If you log a character from the same realm, then yeah you should keep the bonus. Though i don't know if that can be done.

Even with AAO is wasnt enough incentive to make players switch side, you would get a handful of players switching sides and scouting every zone for which place has the highest AAO.
For me AAO didnt solve anything and i certainly dont miss it or need it.
