So lately in scenarios I have seen what I like to call invincible distraction engineers. I am not sure how they obtained that much survivability, but I have seen an engineer tank 6 dedicated melee without guard, trapped in a corner to keep from getting punted from his heal keg and turret, and not die. No support, they just couldnt do a thing to him.
Is this a good method of play for solo? I die alot in scenarios and wouldnt mind being a pinata if it helps us win. How do you go about getting this kind of survivability? I am guessing all armor talis, I saw he had a 660 armor pot on as well as 100 toughness pot. Flame turret was doing some minor damage, and he could magnet and aoe, but it seems just silly how impossible it was to kill him.
Any ideas what kind of spec/gear/talis you need to make something like this happen? Is it more likely toughness gems in slots or armor? And will I actually be able to KILL anything afterwards, because I dont want to be a complete waste in my games.

I am a part of those tanky engineer (my engineer is skori)
I got 4480 armor more than 500 thoughness , less than 1% chance to receive a crit and I've up dodge /disrupt , 800/900 in each resist .
To reach those stat I haven't took any crit or Ballistic skill (got around 650 BS)
This build is viable is you play engineer as a support class (don't except to do tons of damage )
I used armor talis , the jewel set that gives resist/armor , and I spent my rr points in thoughness , dodge /disrupts , crit reduce , and a bit wounds .
I use annihilator set , and took défensives scenarios weapons set .
You need to spam your keg as well .

Aye. All what Skori said I have as well.
Can easily outheal a Destro Tank.
But I'm cheaper build with Ruin gear and T4 rvr and epic quest items. Just get the stuff that gives you Wounds, Toughness and if nothing of that Willpower.
Although I wouldn't recommend putting WIllpower in talis in. The increase in healing power is minimal.
Drink armor pot, and toughness ones. And make sure to equip armor plating as your M2. Sure you don't do Crazy damage. But it is about standing in the middle of it with keg, Rod, napalm, friction burn.
And yes. Keg spam is a must. Made several times Second best Healer in SCs.

Exactly , forgot to tell you about the m2 , and for m1 use the 100% dodge disrupt if you face rdps .
I have armor pot and toughness pot aswell. Use healing potions if necesary .
As I play as support class , I use interrupt all the time on healer , I took the AP regen tactic when I'm standing close to turret , spamming keg for heal all my mdps a bit , I use magnet also to interrupt caster when I don't have a aoe group with me. Disarm is a good ability to take to , your ally will feel the difference if you use concussive mine tactic in healer /caster all the time . Depend if you play engineer for kill / solo or to help your group .

Aye. Skori/Grunbag and I played two SCs together. He is full tinkerer, I'm Napalm/keg. Standing close we healed each other with the keg and destro couldn't bring us down.
Well we had help of course.
M1 Dodge gives you 7seconds to live vs rdps.
Disarm: Fired at a healer let them unable to use their weapon. Which means no heals.
Concussive Mine: increased cast time on detonation. Good vs shamans, zealots, sorcs. It is more or less a heal debuff of 50% for the enemy group. Not so good vs instant cast destros like maras, doks.
And there is the legend from live when a six dwarf engie group whiped a destro Warband. Kegs, Rods and the will of the gods.
The glorious six.

Are you sure about the disarm on health ? Thought it worked only on mdps ?
