TANKS shouldnt have the punt ability , this should be given to light armor classes only as an evasion mechanic. TANKS need to keep the damage coming , not throw people away from him .

Never seen a reason why tanks should not have punts. their role is to tank and control the field. knockbacks are a huge part of controlling the enemies...lilsabin wrote:TANKS shouldnt have the punt ability , this should be given to light armor classes only as an evasion mechanic. Punting DPS away from someone being focused is not useful?lilsabin wrote:TANKS shouldnt have the punt ability , this should be given to light armor classes only as an evasion mechanic. TANKS need to keep the damage coming , not throw people away from him .
Punting enemy DPS away from their guard isn't useful?
Tanks are important offensively AND defensively...

Re: DPS spec tank/healer Hypocrisy
Tanks should have punt IMO. Thats part of their job. If it were up to me though, (I know Az mentioned this once) I would restrict super punts to 2H tanks. Start to build some real "advantage" 2H tanks bring to the table.I would also remove "shield" as a requirement for hold the line so 2H could use this just as well to live from RDPS and perform a "tank" job.
In all reality... In my opinion the 2H vs SnB "talk" should be the exact same as DW vs 2H Which really comes down to MINOR differences and abilities available... But because 2H loses block and all block "procs" is what creates a problem. This is all a separate issue though and much smaller... but i will say this.
2H weapons should give 10% parry - not DW. IRL DW actually doesnt give you better chance to parry. 2H weapons specifically are used for parrying attacks and excel at that. DW should have a DIFFERENT benefit such as 10% more crit damage, or something else. (just an example dont get hung up on that literally).
Which would aid 2H tanks in their tankiness (since they dont have inherent block % from equipping a shield)
Then making Super Punt a 2H only thing (atleast for Knight/Chosen) and I would even argue for BG/IB as well (though this would be tricky)
And now you start to see 2H tanks actually still being called "tanks" and very viable tanks more "on par" with SnB. Because frankly, the "dps increase" you get from a 2H is very very little (aside from tactics and what not).
Then (what I would do) is modify "Focused Offense" so that it increases damage by 25% (up from 15%) but reduces your chance to defend attacks by 10% or something...either that or reduces your toughness by 25% (something like this) rather than armor (which is WAYYY too much to lose) which is what makes FO worthless and really a "suckers bet".
All would allow for more diversification for tanks, possible increase of damage at the loss of tankiness (parry or toughness) added 2H only utility - super punt, as well as inherent 10% parry.
Anyways, thats how I would envision adjusting the 2H vs SnB thing. Then you would see 2H tanks using things like HTL which would be a huge QOL increase and make them more fun as well. And 2H tanks would be "the" counter to guard (as it currently stands).

Especially the suggestion about focused offensive.
I would like to see punt beeing undefendable, cause there is so much ways to counter it, and it makes some fights like an rng generator. you punt -> parry, enemy punts -> hit -> sleep well guarded target. that's just rng. perhabs bind it on the superpunt tactic.

Re: DPS spec tank/healer Hypocrisy
That would actually make 2h tanks a good option in prem groups and a lot better in pugs too, making them some kind of "bruiser" instead of a full tank and not a weaker Mdps. Re: DPS spec tank/healer Hypocrisy
yeah certain SCs can be won or lost off a single punt, it'd be nice if tactic/100 hate/oath made it undefendableragafury wrote:th3gatekeeper wrote: I would like to see punt beeing undefendable, cause there is so much ways to counter it, and it makes some fights like an rng generator. you punt -> parry, enemy punts -> hit -> sleep well guarded target. that's just rng. perhabs bind it on the superpunt tactic.
