Hearthstone is good for what it is, HotS was and still is a casual cashgrab trying to get into the moba market (too late). Blizzard is pretty **** compared to what they were (diablo 1/2 WC3 SC:BW WoW up to TBC), but there is def worse companies out there. I don't know how I feel about bethesda anymore, buggy as hell games always, and even though they arguably have the greatest modding community in history that takes their 7/10 games up to 10/10 they delay mod tools and prioritize consoles/DLC.

Overwatch however is breaking into a resurging market/genre, and it pretty much blows away its competition. I have played every game except for gigantic and overwatch is just leagues better. The only other hope for the genre would be valve announcing TF3 or a port and rework of TF2 to source2.

What resurging market?

And overwatch is dead on arrival, forget about it. The only thing that would ever save it is embracing the "cancerous f2p community" that you all despise so much.

But hey, it saved CS:GO.

There are a bunch of new games coming out that are essentially shooter based arena/moba games.

HiRez - Paladins
Gearbox - Battleborn
Blizzard - Overwatch
and some indie/shovelware dev is making Gigantic

I guess they are trying to evolve the moba genre into more mechanically demanding / faster paced games from what they are now. Which makes sense from a spectator sport point of view since that is what seems to be really popular right now. Games like CSGO are much more exciting to watch compared to LoL/Dota.

Bloodline Champions and Smite already existed, that is arena games based around skill shots, if we are going more for the class based fps, Saturday Night Combat or Tribes were already there.

There is no resurgence, the market was always there, you just nocited it because Blizzard made a game about it.

And the thing they are doing is not evolving, is just the usual Blizzard tactic of picking a genre and streamlining it, its not more complicated or has new systems, its overall, a much simpler game than tf2.

That has been always their key to success, making simple games and try to appeal to a much wider market than the games they copied.

But really, its dead, just look at twitch, there is barely any interest about it. Even the most devoted Blizzard shills jumped ship long ago.

This sadly for you and me, is pure opinion, i also think that there is much better games than lol/dota to see, i would rather see an EVO than any Worlds or International but most people dont share or beliefs.

Yeah who sees other people do anything? I mean, there is not billions and billions put in any market that relies on this kind of **** right?

This of course never happened before and its only something "this generation" whatever that means, invented.

It is sad because all the sports and e-sports is only developed to make money on it, all the drug abuse just to get ahead of others and other controversies (there will be doping tests on e-sports as well if someone hasn't heard). And they do it all just to please the lust of crowd.

Personally I am for playing games with friends or on lan parties, playing football with friends, it is much more entertaining than sitting in house like sloth, packing yourself with beer and chips just to be able to talk with other people how the game went and get frustrated when they do not agree with you.

But hey, this is just me, everyone has right to be a passive vegetable and I have no right to judge them. I love all the people, I just don't understand why so many prefer to watch it instead of doing it themselves.

Edit. oh yeah, and the American superbowl is on top of everything. You watch the game but the most important part of it is the advetisement  Marketing at its finest.

Smite and BLC are like an intermediate step between traditional mobas and the games I listed. Also I listed 4 games all made by different studios, it's not just a blizzard thing.

Never thought about tribes/MNC, still my point I think stands. There is all the sudden a lot of these types of games coming out at once and I don't think it is a coincidence.

I know blizzards trackrecord post WotLK is a casual shitfest, but in comparison overwatch seems the most hardcore of the 4 games I listed in my experience.

Since I ordered 5 collector's editions I have 3 Xtra beta codes. Maybe someone and I can work out a deal for 2 of them up for grabs.
