Anyone that starts playing this game next week learns that they cannot get the best gear for their character for another year. I'm sure that helps retention. And clearly they know it is an issue which is why rings were added to LV. The feedback for this event is not unique. A lot of the events can be grindy but the rewards are cosmetic / inconsequential so people do not mind not finishing. Miss this week and you can't get BIS for 51 more weeks.

Which is why this event, like a few others, would benefit from being somewhat permanent addition to the game. They can even expand the crafting system to allow upgrading of lower tier sets, chapter rewards, quest rewards, to (usable) items. Something like spending 500 or 1000 war tokens to activate a 7 day buff that allows you to farm the matts would work. Same with some of the other events.

If you start the game next week, you are not even able to utilize said rings, even if you got them handed to you for free. Those rings are Best in slot ring items. And that only for a few classes. The impact on your Chars performance in a fight is so small that it is almost impossible to measure. But lets go with your ridiculous cope theory.

So lets say you start a Slayer right after the event. Oh dang you have to wait another year for your bis ring...
First you have to reach lv 40 rr 80. You have to grind for Souv + Trio gear. Trio ring alone is a grind of at least 4 month(for someone who plays excessive, not casual). Then and only then the Annulus would be your last step to an fully finished Best in Slot Slayer. Congratulation you got your Annulus rings. Your over all Dmg done in the WB window compared to the other Slayer with the same gear except the rings, is now around 100K higher after 1 hour of zerging eataine WC to WC.

Seriously get a Vaale Waker ring and Genesis or Nehkharan Emblem. Or buy a ring from the AH.

I have absolutely nothing against making them maybe even more grindier (like remove isle mobs, make quests weekly, this will also be another crucial gold sink and would revive trading and auction alot) but permanent and available thru the year nor i argue about grindiness. But the point is different. I argue that those rings matter anything at all for casual player and i also argue logic that those should become more available to casual players. I'd second Gunlinger as he pretty much nails it.
I'd only add the following - the rings are absolutely OP only if they've got special talisman slot. For those 30 days, what you can do with 2 rings + 2 toptier special talis is just nuts. Once ring loses talisman they are a matter of preference, they will not affect gameplay significantly. This fact actually leads us into conclusion that casuals dont even need those rings in reality because difference in performance vs. genesis is irrelevant for casual gameplay.
It may only somewhat matter in super sweaty 6v6&24v24 matches for toptier BiS teams. Oh and also those rings provide diversity into builds and thats the main reason why so many people hunt them to have e.g. 2 more crit trading ~30 points of mainstat.

You can hit rr80 in a month FYI. Another month for the triumphant ring. 10 months to get BIS after that.
