With respect Barbadian, I have to say that even with a bigger team they shouldn't really focus on PvE until RVR is completely finished. I think one of the original failings of the game was that it had too much focus on PvE content that the majority of people coming to WAR (For PvP) didn't care about.

As for splitting the community it should definitely be avoided until a stage is reached where this server is no longer big enough/stable enough to handle to number of people wanting to play. IMO that would be a good time to hand out the source code, although the previously mentioned hurdles of unscrupulous people charging would have to be tackled.

Perhaps RoR could instead open more servers and fund them by having a 'charity drive' each year where the costs are published and people donate up to and not exceeding the costs the cover them. That would hopefully make it clear to EA/GW that no profit is being made.

I agree with this one. This is the one the reason why I quit WAR. WAR is doing PvPvE which it really stray off their RVR plan. Also it is why I have a strong dislike with LOTD content. It have nothing to do with WAR and should be focusing on Capital City. I have friends in the game that is focusing on PVE to grind for gears. I imagined when Mythic said that it is a RVR game. So what I see is that every player would do RVR battle just to get gears and keep in battling. But that didn't happen.

With all due respect, I disagree with few parts there. Releasing more server will affect the dynamic of the playerbase. I like the way EVE have set up and only have one universe that every player have to do in there. Keeping as in one server but add more server to assist the main server to raise the limitation or cap of the players in the game should do. I felt that one server will keep everything in balance. It really even thing out with the race. Back then, I see servers that is side with Order and it really make it harder to go RVR while the Order of ROFLstomping everything because their playerbase is so huge than Destro. Also keeping it to one server will make it feel like a community. And it will make a ongoing RVR battle than waiting for certain time when the majority of the people will be logging on.

I do agree with the 'charity drive' thing. I know I know I know it been repeated so many times that devs don't need to beat the dead squig about the "we can't accept donation" warcry. But what about the equipment donation? like a brand new shiny server? Hard drive? CPU? Coffee maker? Would that be acceptable for GW not to shutdown the whole thing since it will be only for the server. Also it is not profit at all, it just a gift of item for the game. Something like if I brought a blade server of my own money and gift the blade server to you guys at no cost for you?

I know nothing of the vast business you all are involved in, Devs & Dev-Helpers, but I do know physical and intellectual security (social engineering, etc.), and counter measures for both, as well as a bit too much psychology, and way, way too much sales psychology. I'm better at analyzing the dead horse instead of flogging it.

First, Kintari, please consider reconsidering your decision. Second, your ambition and determination, and self-confidence will get you the career-life you desire, and I commend you for 'feeding your camp' first. That's a success trait too few individuals posses. A trait from which flows, in time, residuals you may not be able to imagine yet. Max's 'in absentia' bears this same trait out. Young(-er than me ;) ) folks with these traits are always impressive to me. Regardless of age difference, I sincerely respect those like you and Max, and enjoy 'watching' you work. It's motivating to watch professionals like you apply yourselves to the process of 'growing' your wealth. Thirdly, I'm forever grateful Max did not utter the same paraphrase you did, because he has as much right, bolstered with sweat equity, to have said those words long before you did. Again, Kintari, kind sir, PLEASE consider reconsidering your decision. More precisely, PLEASE, as unpleasant as the thought may be to you, come back to 'the team', however discombobulated that entity is at the moment, with your one hand not just tied, but manacled behind your back. Some of us (quite a few???) have a personal "All Time Heroes" List with a space exactly befitting your name and visage.

Come back, hand tied and all, to keep (gods forbid, amirite?!) emo, psycho-/sales-babbling, almost 50-year-old players, who joined W.A.R. during opening week because FOUR YEARS of barrens chat and then-incoming-blood-elves was to be crushed by the anarchic numbers in exodus from Blizz; who still posses the purchased $54.99 'game CDs' in the art-covered CD case (WITH unmarred paperboard sleeve  ); who cried... no, sobbed as of the loss/death of a family member after watching the one with Power Of 'EAttorney' pull the plug on that morgue-cold fateful evening of December 18, 2013; also watching massive RIFTs form between long-time, well-established friendships, alliances and acquaintences, shredding the tethers, that just weeks before, had many believing the "...loss of a silly game..." would never harm or destroy the bonds we felt were unending; come back so one of us emo fools can "We're not worthy"-worship you for being an integral part of a gifted, selfless group of dedicated, passionate souls who posses the compassion to literally be the next "Make A Wish Foundation" for all of us emo M.U.S.H. (Mangy Unwanted Super Heroes) And please bring friends.

Finally, PLEASE come back because you will bolster and uplift the irl spirits for those who personally, emotionally cannot bear the loss of friendships (and 'enemy-ships') on such a scale again. I cannot guarantee your happiness, nor success while with RoR, but I will assure you: If you take on this selfless, thankless volunteer position, your success in everything that follows in your career-life will be multitudes greater, with residuals in all areas above and beyond the financial.

Please?

Thanks for your time and consideration. Good hunting.

this is a very misleading quote change. He didnt mean it that way and you know it. He said working on an OUTDATED version of the game is a waste of time, he could spend on paid projects rather.

It's a strawman if anything. Nothing was implied to say he's wasting his time for moneyless work, it's just that work on an outdated version of the server might not be of any use at all, and thereby a waste of time.

To be honest, if the database coding done on the outdated version is just used as a means of testing skill and development ability, I don't really see how the trust is gained. Surely, as said, you just have to wait a few weeks/months until they decide to let you in, but by the looks of it you have to be a dedicated veteran over a skilled programmer at this point, since there's no contact with the rest of the team even when you're able to prove yourself. This may frustrate people like the OP, despite legitimate reason for trust issues, but in which case, the devs have to find a way AROUND these trust issues and learn to embrace the few people they DO want to trust.
