Not only was it a source of grief between players but also from a game standpoint it makes little sense that the opposing factions talk to each-other.

But it was also sometimes helpful in game. For example to explain the enemy team that you dodge the fight, because one of player crashed. Or to set up a fight in general. From a roleplay standpoint it might make no sense to understand the enemy, but same is true for understand between elfes, dwarves and humans. Or thats everyone in Altdorf speaks english instead of proper Mittelhochdeutsch?

Disabling it was great move, Trash talk and cheating, some groups were amazingly coordinated with "enemies" sometimes. Now we have Real War not farming helper for friends.

If anyone wants to talk with opposing realm he is free to use official RoR discord anyways, plenty of xrealm talk out there

Chatting with opposing realm isnt main goal here.

It is clearly that Destro started to get better when they weren't shaking in fear for our warcries

That is the ideal. However my opinion remains disabling the cross-realm chat was a cosmically good idea.

Sometimes I wonder about the average age of this playerbase, since ****-talking other people on the internet seems to be such a fundamental part of their gaming experience.

If you want to have friendly banter with a friend on the opposing faction, log into discord or another service.
