Im surprised you people still think a single class can deal with a melee train.

Ehh. I was just suggesting a class capable of reducing the impact of a melee train. With 25% parry, 30% reduced damage (via challenge), 50% redirected damage (via guard), and a slew of toughness and armour buffs, theoretically that's more than 73.75% dmg reduction. Surely that counts for something?shaggyboomboom wrote:Im surprised you people still think a single class can deal with a melee train.

KotBs. Keep them AoE snared, superpunt the BO so he doesn't AoE snare your group, etc.

is weird but i do agree with you, shaggyboomboom wrote:Im surprised you people still think a single class can deal with a melee train.
U can deal with a mele train in many ways , in 6 vs 6 , wbs , if u talk about pugging in scs , and u getting stomped by destru mele trains its simple , to many rdps in order , sure it works when destru doesnt have heals but if they do u screwed as they can push towards with guards and heals while ur average engi bw or sw swarms will be caught and dealed asap once destru mdps get in.
the synergy of tanks and mdps in pug enviroment beats by a longshot the rdps tanks one . mdps has it easy to assist at pug lvls , just got to where most people is and whack it , in order rdps are, well let me drop this, in last sc i did , a nordenwatch we had 3 engis , 1 sws and 2 bws. i was spaming assist and nobody was on same target , and this happens evry frenquely

From a solo/pug perspective, Engineer is your best bet. You cannot play MDPS into an organized melee train, you might as well just leave the SC. Engineer can sit back and apply constant pressure, as well as majorly disrupting healing with stagger/disorient spam from concussive mines. Everytime your M2 is up you can probably secure a kill on a pug. And with that statement you find something else important. You MUST always go for the offgroup players before you even think of touching anyone in the premade.
You need to figure out who the pugs are on their side and kill them first, then hope that your healing is good enough for your side to turn it into a numbers advantage against the premade, with enough RDPS you will create an environment where the only people putting pressure on your team is the 2 MDPS in the destro premade, meaning the entirety of the order SC is basically honed on those 2 players making it near impossible to do anything for them if both your groups are up and their off group is dead/bad. Which is another major reason people stopped playing melee trains.
SW and BW are also good, but much less independent and have to be closer to the fight making it more risky.
About tanks, maybe IB. But concerning the playstyle that allows a solo tank to actually """carry""" a pug SC Blackgaurd is much better in that regard. You can constantly keep up 50% heal debuffs on healers, never die, interrupt casts with taunt and an ability. Super punt them out of LoS of what they are healing, all while being unkillable. And if they are dumb enough to peel onto you, you are taking tons of pressure off your group. IB can do all this as well but virtually everything isn't as good, the healdebuff has a 5 sec cd instead of instant, the punt is shorter etc...
The other tanks are kinda useless solo, you are pretty much just rolling the dice hoping you get good DPS players to support and a healer that will actually toss you HoT. You won't be any kind of threat to a decent group, they will just ignore you till you are the last one left.
Healers are necessary and there is nothing wrong with playing any of them, but remember you are rolling the dice just like on tanks. And MDPS are D E A D W E I G H T pls reroll rdps. Inb4 someone shows me a SS of their WE in a pug sc with 20 dbs against pugs who would of lost even if you weren't in the sc.
If you are talking about being in a premade fighting a melee train...
6v6 it's gonna come down to skill, unless you are running a totally dumb group comp. I don't think I can really say more here.
in scenarios and open RvR, just run 3-2-1 cookie cutter (WL/SW/BW/Knight/RP/WP-AM) or any group with 2 healers and 2 rdps. The reason is mentioned above (less reliant on pug group in sc) and again play as good as you can and get better. Also in RvR you cant fight the zerg with melee train it's pretty much impossible as you need ranged damage and damage while kiting and keeping a healthy distance between your 6 man and the 20+ players running after you. This isn't live where you have nerds in full warped who can 2v20 thanks to gear.

Re: Best classes in order to fight against meele train?
I've seen some really good mdps players do well enough solo or pugging scs. The player who has impressed me the most to the point where I study him in scenarios actually plays a WL, but I haven't seen him around lately.shaggyboomboom wrote:Lol @ "mdps are deadweight"
It's just that these people would be doing a while lot more in scenarios that mattered if they were on rdps. Unless the stars align and they get 2 healers a guard that knows how to play and someone assisting them so they are not wasting their time in the front lines. The other case is when you are against a terrible comp and you feel like you did amazing on your mdps class but it was really that they had 1 healer between 12 people and no tanks or something while you had 4 and 4.
