get the gear first, it will give far more survivability and damage bonii than the single weapon. besides, the jump from rr39 weapon to the rr45? weapon is abysmal
(though same can be said about jump from Merc to Dominator)

depending on situation, the epic quest weapons may be far more beneficial thanks to their procs than the sc weapons.

Speaking of the Procs, would it be so bad to add Procs to the 45RR weapons?

For the price tag and time invested, they are certainly more trouble than the Epic quest weapons to acquire heh.

One could argue that it'd contribute to 'powercreep' and re-ignite the 'hurdur gear is all that makes or breaks fights', followed by the 'hurdur evil grind is evil'-discussions.

If anything, the costs should be somewhat lowered - given how relatively meh the weapons are. But I don't think we need more procs!

I'd rather have weapons DPS scaling very very poorly but having a bazillion different procs/bonuses. Would add to the variety of builds, instead of "that's Black Orc #56, pretty much the same as Black Orc #25 but he has 5 more DPS on his weapon".

I agree with Penril here. I don't mind procs personally, it adds more depth to the game. There was an idea I had to introduce actual new abilities on the weapons, or maybe something similar to tactics that change or buff your abilities in some way. Nothing huge, but only to give you some more depth and an ability to play with your character more and get away from all the boring cookie-cutter builds.

New stuff on weapons would require easy access to them, or well... things start over again.

Oho, I'd take the same proc as epic weapon any day. Same choices. Just that, would be kinda good enough to warrant the 2k emblem investment (an argument to leave the crit a 2% instead of 4% could even be made for tanks). Right now, you gain about 10 dps for scen weapon, while losing 30% avoidance proc or speed proc, both of which are truly awesome. In my book it is a hard sell. Once I get full Dom, I don't even plan on farming the weapon. The defensive proc Epic is too good.

For original question, I am with everyone : buy gear first. Dom is really fun for 2H tanks. Coupled with Overlord (somewhere in the future), would be a great set up of offense/defense mix.

I give you some tips out of my experience.. I started with the exact same mindset: choose BO, go 2hd.

reconsider for the upcoming sc grind brawler + Down ya go or Brawler + boss till snare tactic. don't spam aoe (waaagh) in sc's.
you want anyway two tactics from that tree (brawler) for 2hd.

playing aoe specc in small scale will result in pain (for you, cause 0 kill potential and for your team (not that usefull, sorry to say ). since you play a aoe spec be at least mindful with it, otherwise you will break a lot of your teams staggers.

for your gear question go for dom gloves belt boots, try to get BL going as soon as it's back for good resistances, parry, procc, str on the set . and get the winds imp ToK set to bolster your resistances even further. on top of that rank 1 or rank 2 FS. otherwise you are a crit benchmark on two legs. You can use the 3 mentioned dom pieces even for your snb gear. they are a solid choice and really excel in smallscale snb.

on top of that, I don't want to tell you how to play, but be aware of the fact that volgos suggested weapon doing 69.x dmg per second (Axe is called "Bane" for greenskins). the so called "upgrades" give 79.x dmg. you will play a looooong time with that piece of equipment. the subjugator one hander has 55 dps, the dps sc I one hander is also good for dmg and the advantage of wearing a shield which brings access to block, most potent defensive stat in the game. on top of that you got access to a tactic (10%) block which is worth 20RR. Besides that, every tank in the games has access to defensive abilities. BO has 0 of that besides challenge and a stance toggle to greenest. (speaking 2hd, ofc with shield HTL, with masteries 50% block ability etc.)

from my personal experience, I just can tell you it isn't worth it.
and if I would do again such a equipping process, eg. dps dok, you would see me carry that chalice around till I got my last piece of gear.
So even 2hd would be my main target again, I would do the grind on snb to higher my sc winchances for effiency.
atm. I'm building again on my lul dps 2hd set. will see how it works... my intention tells me it will be straight underwhelming,... as always if I get out a 2hd on my blorc.

perhabs my best tip out of endless sc journey on 2hd.... work constantly on your snb gear too. you will have a hard time finding groups as a 2hd BO for anything. On BO, if your group is inexperienced, it will furthermore add instability, cause you are hard to heal.

so just a friendly warning, don't want you to rage quit. because I tried the same, just without bossspecc.

I tried really to be diplomatic, and I don't want to tell you how to play, but take my experience into your consideration.

He has some guides for 2hd tanks n stuff, lots of it is for IB, but many things can just be adapted to 2hd BO. He is a good starting point in terms of tutorials etc.
