Yes. The RP is rough to AoE grind with, you have a bunch of "downtime". I found, that you just need to find the limit you can pull based on your CDs. I used it to lvl. I did PL someone on it while I lvled though. It was far more tedious than the Z, and I died a lot before I learned the timing. And you gotta "waste" GcDs healing yourself, but just minimize your downtime, and it "works"
For farming, on Order side I would say that WP is the best. You can farm large groups of mobs with Guilty Soul, not super fast but continuously. And imo, it's the best class for farming Champs. I know a guy with 3 WPs, so he can do whatever needs doing w/o respecing... Jon, you're crazy.
On Destro, the DoK or Choppa would be the best for champs, but the Z is king of mobs imo. Z's have trouble with champs.
But you can farm with almost any toon. They all have tools for self healing, and or utilize your morales and CDs to negate as much damage as possible. Remember, that preapplied DoTs don't break detaunt for long casts(but AA does) and even squishies can farm champs super easy. This is before you lrn2kite....
Honorable mention to Engi's and Magus though.
For farming Gold you have to take a few things into consideration. Champs are technically the best for frags since they drop purples, but mobs drop purple items, at a lower rate, and blue frags. However, you can't get WS/Tough/Wounds/Ini from champs, but you can't get armor from items, and Armor tends to be the most expensive... Also, can you make these frags into tali's? Can you salvage these items to frags? Etc.
Same for Butchering. Armor pots are the most expensive, so the mob/hour rate doesn't need to be as high. Finding a spot where you can farm multiple types(armor and toughness from a few different types of mobs for instance) can be a boon as well, since you are relying on selling to give you the gold.
Which is another point. Are you farming to build an economy? IE, lots of AH sales, with gold coming in consistently, or do you need cash for a purchase? If quick cash, get a good AoE toon and find a spot with a crap ton of 40 mobs, relatively spread out and learn the respawn rate. Sell everything they drop and sell/break down the purple items. You should avg 40-60g just on green items and Junk, even the worst purple item is worth a purple Tali, so you can get 15g and up. And with the new Bind on Equip change for everything, Purple jewels and weapons will be worth even more....
For the record, it used to be(on Live), that Humanoid(scavengable) mobs had a higher drop rate of Items than the Others(butcherable). Whether this is the case or not on RoR, I can't say. But I function under the assumption that it is, and have found that bore out. If I want to farm purples, I kill humanoids. The scavenging is mostly crap, but it's extra copper per mob that adds up into gold/hour. Squiqs are always tempting, because they are really easy location wise. But there are so many good farming spots around. In nooks and crannies all over the place. Just large groups of mobs. I tend to stay away from PQs, since you get downtime.
Imo for Mobs Order CW has the best spots, and for Destro it's Reikland. Obviously, BC has the best champs in the game. And not just the trolls, you can farm the champs guarding the BL boss too... And if you need more kiting space, there are Dryads in southern BC, east of the destro WC(with a really good spot to farm 40 boars as well...)
I would like to mention, I find it good karma to at least invite someone along to leech some XP. Even if it is slow. Entirely unsubstantiated, but I "feel" like the drop rate is increased with more people in the party... And whether you charge or not is up to you. I found it a good way to help out a newbie with XP/gold and some advice. It's not like your friends list has limited space...
Gl!
Edit: words n stuff
Edit: If you need help with a specific class build lemme know. But if you have a toon at high enough rank, it's simply a matter of learning the timing on your casts, and then the respawn rate.
