So what's the difference between "being inspired by" and "copying", then?

I think it depends on if any possible lawsuit would have success:
Virtually no chance on success = inspired by ...
Chances on success = copied from ...

That video is hilarious. I always sort of liked that the Warhammer world is based on our world but I could see how you could accuse them of lazy world building.

The WH vs WoW stuff always seemed kind of lame to me. Other than the fact that they both have Tolkienesque creatures and maybe have some stylistic similarities (armor with big shoulders for one) they really aren't that similar.

It's something prevalent in fantasy/sci--fi gaming/movie/series scenes: in order to really like one, you - by default - have to **** on the others.

tldr: Tolkien laughs at these WH/WOW debates =P

Yeah I will never understand that in a million years. Played WoW for 5 years. Really enjoyed it and made a lot of friends who I am still in touch with years later. Played WAR for only 2 years but would have kept playing it had there not been such big balance issues back on live. Played both LOL and DOTA (and more recently HotS by Blizzard) all are really fun. Though I personally enjoy LOL and HotS more than DOTA.

I am the type of fantasy/Sci fi fan that wants to enjoy and eat up everything offered. Not pick one and claim it is the best and that all others suck in comparison.
