Order could have locked CW tonight..... no siege...we failed

Just by glancing at the enemy kill counter to see who was farming who, I don't think siege weapons would be stopping the premade that had a slaughter fest on the pugs. =P
I play for the glory of ME and seeing purple numbers go by on my screen...drmordread wrote:I don't play for the glory of defending the realm, I play for the glory of ME and seeing purple numbers go by on my screen. (Yes I stop playing maxed out toons and go to an alt when I no longer make RR).
As for the few that camp the siege.... let them!
They sit around all day in one zone waiting for an attack, protecting their siege by staying mounted and keeping it in tow so that the timer does not kill it. Meanwhile you are out there fighting and making RR. At the end of the day, YOU out there fighting, make more RR than the guy sitting at the keep.
Cutting off RR to people that use siege is punishing people for helping to defend a keep.
So if I have a wb and take the Wb to defend the keep, and I get 6 of my people on Oil and Siege .... these 6 people will not make RR but everyone else will?
Where is the sense in this? Where is the logic? Where is the fairness? No RR for one quarter of my wb ..... because some jealous mimmi is complaining that people on siege make easy RR??? Get a LIFE! Stop complaining about someone making more RR than you!

Step 2: Have someone in that group use abilities that cause aoe damage on enemy players (rain of fire is great for this, and it allows you to eat doritos while you play!)
Step 3: Use your siege to kill people in the same area your team member is doing damage
Step 4: Get renown
I havent played enough to notice, so if you still dont get renown for that, I would assume its a bug. Otherwise keeps are not intended to be solo player friendly, so I dont see any problem.
Excuse me, but I am really getting sick and tired of the "Join a guild" "Join a WB" "Join a premade" rhetoric. It's fine and dandy for people that dont know how to play, but some of us enjoy the thrill of doing it solo. There will always be solo players, punishing them for "Not playing YOUR STYLE of game", is not right, nor fair!PCD999 wrote: WAR has always been a teamwork-centric game. The entire thing is centered around working together (in theory, unfortunately much less so in practice) in large groups to succeed. Renown is a great "carrot at the end of the stick," but if you're just playing so you can get a kick out of seeing purple numbers, you can go color an excel spreadsheet and scroll your way down to get the same effects. In a game centered around teamwork, mechanics that encourage an "I can get more purple numbers by AFKing at the keep with oil until resistance arrives" is inherently detrimental to the game. The devs made a brilliant choice in nerfing siege rewards.
Awwwww.... someone made RR without fighting...what a crying shame!!!!PCD999 wrote: This is entirely the point. Good scraps that yield a lot of renown do - and very well should - require more effort than sitting at a keep and tapping your mouse to spill oil every so often. If you enjoy "seeing purple numbers" so much, go out there and earn them.
Encourage teamplay.... I think I said enough on that above, but let me say something again.PCD999 wrote: Again, the logic is to encourage teamplay and remove a glaringly overpowered opportunity for lots of renown with minimal (and I really stress the "minimal" part) effort. Earn your renown. The "fairness" component of your argument is the only one that I can remotely understand, as these individuals who are operating within a warband will indeed sacrifice their renown rewards for kills. However, I have - and will certainly continue to - purchase siege equipment for my realm and use them in sieges. Why? Because they make a huge difference in deciding the victorious realm, and with all the other opportunities for renown/gear that follow a victory, it's a small sacrifice to pay. If it's that big of a deal, rotate the individuals who operate the siege. But removing the stupid amounts of renown you can get from siege weapons (especially oil) stops encouraging the "screw my warband; I can get a whole half of a renown-rank by leaving the group and dumping oil" mentality. (And out of curiosity, why are you even concerned about your hypothetical warband? You've made it abundantly clear that you only "play for the glory of ME and seeing purple numbers go by on my screen")
It's fine if you want to play so you can see purple numbers on your screen, but getting to a high RR should be a symbol of effort, not one of "I'm good AFKing for lengths of time, followed by hitting my mouse1 button every 5 seconds."
And as I write this, I spent 5 gold on an oil, ran to the top of the outer door and waited 3 minutes for the right time. When Order commited, I used oil Killed no less than 9 tanks and MDPS (recieving no renown), then directed my warband to push out. We wiped the order warband, destroyed their two siege engines they had deployed, broke orders will to fight and locked CW, Praag, Reik, TM, and KV with little opposition.drmordread wrote: NO ONE IS USING SIEGE to help break the block... no one.
