No, lag doesn't affect it. You can't spot someone if they're more than 40ft away from you, ever.

Ok so comparing distances with abilities of similar range that's still pretty darn far away for a one-shot "surprise" attack on a 30 second cooldown (perhaps the WHs animations were bugged, it was a keep attack when I saw what LOOKED like a stealthed WH from double that distance, and a Nordenwatch where it was def further than 40ft)).

I was rarely able to see WH on live from beyond 20ft I'm guessing by comparison (which was still time to flash a CC or a Detaunt, or yanno, move) but not time to laugh at their attempts at sneaking, get a hot, absorb and a group heal off before you have to worry about it. I know I have found stealth to be a lot more unreliable on my WE so it's definitely different from Live and would be interested to hear others' experiences.

Side Note: Conjecture
To be honest, I dislike stealth mechanics in games; they are always bungled to be ridiculously OP, or pretty much useless (I can tell you categorically that Stealth is much less useful and effective in RoR than WAR). I recall hearing that Stealth was never intended to be in WAR but it got tacked on in a hurry before release? I wonder what the WH/WE could have had instead.... I'd be all for ditching stealth completely if it can't be evened out.

Either way I still would like to see AE/DA looked at.

EDIT: Added context for the stealth distances, sorry!

Stealth has a flank modifier. If you're approaching from outside of the player's field of view, they only have a chance to spot you at 13ft. The chance of a spot increases the closer you are to the target, based on the maximum spot range for your angle of approach (either 40ft or 13ft).

The stealth check itself uses an opposed Initiative check to determine the chance of you being spotted by a given target.

Ok that's interesting, pretty sure it wasn't as uh.. "tactical" on live. I will further test on my welf and keep an eye on my zealot. I need to re-find and bookmark that formula you posted awhile back.

Continuing side note...
I was rummaging through old Warhammer TT stuff and WEs having stealth in WAR doesn't make sense really. A 30sec cooldown somersault with AoE damage on landing would be far more fun :P.

EDIT: I don't have any order toons on RoR so if anybody wants to test with me either on a WH to my zealot or on another toon to my welf send me a PM here.

That would result in a "unintended stun" effect on almost the half of the enemy warband members

When you reduce the rank requirements, then it only opens the gate for discussions about all other r40 skills.
WE/WH are no MRD/SL-"light", because you can't compare them.
They have their own niche, where they perform well, pretty much like dd healers. You don't play them outside of their "hunting ground", where other classes might be better.
Dying is no option.

You are right, its ok to have a niche, but ppl want to have "balance" and "fairness", so they propose more and more buffs, in which they don't only remain in their current "hunting ground", but take some of others just to fit into that sweet 2-2-2 group setup. By doing so, and finally becoming "viable" they would most likely ruin the game, but who cares.
