Melee Doks are great in a Roamling 6 man, we used to zerg bust on live with a melee Dok. We joked that the zerg had add-on that let them know when he logged on so they could go PvE. Wish I got his build, Tig could play any style of Dok and rock it.Shadowgurke wrote:Sorry to disappoint you, but yes. 1on1. It is a niche and they fill the spot nicely. Apart from that we have smallscale RvR, where a Hybrid is fine and dandy. Talking about group sizes 2-5. Then we have kiting squads, another niche where hbrids are welcome. What did you expect when talking about niche, everyday high level 6v6?Azarael wrote:
If I may ask... given that tanks in RvR strap on shields and WP / DoK are expressly cited as being almost mandatory for large scale combat, what exactly is the niche of a hybrid?
(Please don't say 1on1.)

Something melee WP/DoKs are really terrible at doing. Though, DoK's are mildly better off for their ability to snare at range.Azarael wrote:Of those, kiting squads are the only niche I'd recognize based on a view towards either 6v6/12v12 SC play or mass RvR.
Edit- Also love how often I hear praise about how good melee DoK is, never WP, but still people fight tooth and nail against even a theoretical WP buff.

With facestabbing - yes, damage was shielded and parried. Side damage and back damage - not defendable, though server could show nice tricks with back positioning, when you hit someone in the back, and server think that is the face of the victim.Azarael wrote: Was it possible to defend attacks while knocked down?

Yeah, "slightly change" to core mechanic, which supposed to be untouched. Instead of fixing mythic errors, what we see now? "Nerf aoe heal, nerf dok/wp, nerf guard, nerf bw/sorc, nerf slayer/choppa, nerf everything". Some thing should not be touched EVER. Like holy trinity of heal, tank and damage dealer, or guard ability in WHO. This is the ONLY ONE MMO, where tanks are useful in PvP, where they can help groupmates, and this can change only because of some people, who cannot learn their class, and lickspittles, approving every word of mighty ones, no matter what they are saying. Kid.
You CAN'T change guard now, w/o break this game, or rewriting it's core.
Mad boy indeed is mad. Where does it happen that am i licking anything actually? Guess i'll have to stick to your words and am a booman now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

At least I can always trust Noise to give me a hell of a chuckle.

Supress can be parried and has nowhere near 100% uptime. Mixed defenses wasn't skilled until now, we'll see if that changes-noisestorm wrote:
Just as a few examples i'll start with chosen: Supress 25% Parry + Mixed defenses
Slotting runefang as a KotBS?noisestorm wrote: Kotbs: X% through Runefang, Shield Rush 10% block+"15% Parry" (??)
Double parry tactic is level 37 and really bad for guarddamage. 10% block parry is only 10% in the final stance. 5% 2h tactic means we are talking about a 2H tank, so guarddamage is certainly not negligible for him.noisestorm wrote: SM: Potential double parry tactic, 10% block/parry through stance tactic, 5% through 2h tactic, 25% eagles flight.
The idea that Chosen and Knight are the perfect deftards isn't new and I am not saying that their damage mitigation is superior to the others, but I still don't agree with nerfing guard based on T3
12v12 SC means pugs vs pugs? Hybrids really shine there, especially AMs. Mass RvR is a similar case, unless we talk about organized mass rvr. Just to clarify, those seem to be the major things people do on this server, solo SC and zerging.Of those, kiting squads are the only niche I'd recognize based on a view towards either 6v6/12v12 SC play or mass RvR

it all just worked normaly... you were able to block/parry in front and you were able to dodge/disrupt from behind, also take guard damage...Soulcheg wrote:With facestabbing - yes, damage was shielded and parried. The only bug which i "myself" stated was that sometimes you were able to hold the line while KD cos a bug happened.
