Re: Dear DPS Healers.. from Us

I completely agree with Azarael that just because AM is a healer archetype it doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to dps. After reading posts about this I have gradually changed my mind and now I am fully in favour of letting everyone play their class as they want. We want diversity and freedom in this game imho.
The only small thing I would like to add is that, as Azarael has admitted, AM is imbalanced 1v1. But the devs aren't dealing with 1v1 issues, at least for now. And it's understandable, as the amount of group play balancing work to do is still huge.
All in all I think balance is a good thing, not only with a 6man perspective in mind. 1v1 also deserves balance imho.
BUT
I don't think arguments that in the end boil down to "AMs should be healing me instead of dps'ing" aren't acceptable. There is something called "freedom" and "variety" and it should apply to a game too. ESPECIALLY to a game.
Also, the people who, like me, think that dps AM and Shaman are ridiculously imbalanced 1v1, sometimes are accused of whining because we have been killed by one and can't take it, or because a dps AM has gotten better numbers than us. For some of us, those assumptions are insulting. Isn't it possible to believe that some of us don't base our opinions about the game on who killed us or who put out better numbers in a sc?
I might be an idealist, but I think the balance in this game should be focused on an objective principle: RISK vs REWARD.
DPS AM and shaman class design blatantly flouts this principle.
I will only make a suggestion: Move some of the AM dps and lifetap skills further up the trees so that they don't lose any of their abilities but have to wait until late t3 or t4 where they won't be such an imbalancing factor in 1v1. I am now appealing NOT to mirroring, but to take example from other classes that are far more balanced between their offensive and their support potential. Runepriests has an approximately equal amount of DoTs and heal on damage abilities, only RPs have to wait until near lvl 40 to have all those tools, while already in t1 AMs have most of their DoTs and lifetap.
The ideal thing for me would be to buff AM's support to make them equally desirable for a 6 man setup as a RP or WP, and not to nerf, but to rearrange their offensive potential to easily avoid imbalance issues.
