It's not the highest priority, I just want to make sure it is changed at some point to the real values written in this thread.
What we have are the number of steps and the factors based on mechanic value. I could do further investigation for the base dmg values, all we need are videos with sorc/bw on any rank between 11 and 39, where we can see at least one backlash hit, the rest is math.

I talked to keaven about it. It would have been an overall increase with larger increase endgame.
They had finally realized the mechanic wasnt working as planned.
They shied away from the heal debuff as it was too big a change though it was popular amongst players and would have made the class playable solo.

^^^ Which, of course, would have the opposite effect intended and would only further pigeonhole casters into the full comb/DM spec. The only way "backlash" mechanic would work as intended is if the dmg was tied, as a percentage, to the actual damage done by the spell. This facilitate the intended element of unpredictability and danger to the backlash. The perfect caster rotation is timed so that 2-3 big hits happen in the same time-stamp. This is exactly when the backlash chance and dmg should be calculated and applied to the caster. The caster would actually have more incentive to decide at what level of comb/DM to cast that huge rotation because it has the chance to mirror exactly what happens to the target and put a big burst on the caster as well. That would be an actual working mechanic and then you could tweak the damage % and chance from there.
IDK It seems more logical to have the both target and caster dmg hit at the same time. Maybe casters needed a tactic of some sort that would allow them to solo easier as well?

And as always they were clueless
1. Explosive Force / Piercing Shadows
2. Smoldering Embers / Swell of Gloom
The root cause was 1.4 and LOTD gear that gave huge crits. RR80 BW/Sorcs without LOTD gear will be an average DPS.

Some skills were having their coefficients altered and some were adding wdps aswell. That would have sorted EF/PS out.
Also you can use meltdown or burnout to reduce SE/SoG damage at anytime. That was the point of the mechanic your meant to use them.

I agree that was how it was intended. It didnt work like that though due to healing particularly from dok/wp ghealing backed up with healbless meaning the backlash was negated. Thats why healdebuff was popular it addressed the real problem ghealings effect on the mechanic. Baclash wasnt the problem backlash when ghealing is introduced was. Reworking healing to fit the mechanic would have meant reworking every career.

You are barking up the wrong tree sorcs / BWs will be average DPS in RR80 gear (cept in bomb trains)

No because as I said they were altering individual coefficients and adding wdps.
Im talking about live where they were trying to counter rr100 and bugged talis which scaled sorc/bw dps far more than any other class due to crit stacking.
Without rr100 gear and lotd talis bw/sorc mechanic wont be as op as live but we dont know the devs plans for that yet.
