6 man meta
Re: 6 man meta
Balance should based on RvR since this is a FoR game...... so balance 24v24. Otherwise only make 6 classes each realm!

Re: 6 man meta
That aplies to any scale combat.
If there are one healer, one tank and one dps that are better then the others then you pretty much only need to bring 3 classes.
Ballance should be about making the classes thats not the top in one specific field bring something that the other don't have, are in need of or compliment the group.
An example of how this has failed is how good Warior Preist and DoK's are in any given situation as healers. The other healers arn't even needed in the game. Another example is how KOTBS covers pretty much everything a tank need and makes the other order tank classes a bit obsolete. It's not as as bad with the tanks as SM and IB's have some minor utillity that KOTBS doesn't. But KOTB's cover enough of it that it's the only tank really needed.

I watched your shadow warrior 6v6 video

Was a great fight, but I think you bungled things a few times on your SW which likely caused some of the clowning people were dishing on you. Please don't take the following as criticism of your play, just some helpful tips on how to make SW really shine. The class is extremely strong when played correctly (see Chaz, Rhukar, Thorondir, or Daffodil for helfpul examples within the RoR community):
1:24 - You used your self punt while morale rooted. This was a waste of the punt, also Marauder is snare immune so it wouldn't have worked anyhow. Then, you detaunted the mara instead of WE. In this situation, the WE was the better detaunt target considering their great witchbrew burst.
1:35 - When the Mara root breaks, I noticed that you tried to bunny hop away. Unfortunately, there is now a stacking snare debuff on yourself when you bunny hop like that. Also, you gave the WE your back so he was able to agonizing would through your assualt stance. The self punt (which was on cooldown from earlier) probably could have saved you here.
2:37 - Again, when the Marauder morale rooted you, I see you tried to self punt on the marauder who is again, snare immune. Combined with detaunting the mara instead of the WE, your fate was sealed.
4:36 - I see you hit your M2 and VoN while you were challenged by the BO. Challenge will reduce your outgoing damage by 30%. You should really try clearing challenge with channeling rapid fire for 1 second. It really makes the difference between getting the kill (which you didn't) and wasting your M2.
4:47 - Again you used self punt while morale rooted. Still doesn't work. Good move on detaunting the WE this time.
6:15 - Yet again, you tried to self punt while morale rooted. I can't stress this enough but it doesn't work. You are rooted. Good move detaunting the WE. You should have used eyeshot on the marauder though instead of burning the GCD on the self punt(which doesn't work).
10:18 - This was the most problematic choice of the 6v6. The Shadow Warrior must use Unshakable Focus as his M2. Shadow Warrior burst is based around the double damage. Using focused mind is basically neutering yourself. They don't even have to kill you now. Balls cut. No damage. SW has lots of tools to survive (RKD, self punt if you don't waste it!) and you need to use them to get your unshakable focus kills.
11:48 - Here I see you used the focused mind to break the mara root. Although you survive, balls still cut, you are unable to do anything.
12:49 - Just over a minute later, the mara roots you again but this time you haven't built enough morale for a focused mind. This highlights two problems: 1) you must slot morale gain on gear with SW. The class is built around the M2 and you need to M2 every minute. 2) even with balls cut for survival by slotting focused mind, you can't survive. Much better to kill with unshakable focus and keep the enemy on their heels.
12:54 - Yet again, (for the 5th? time) you try to self punt out of the Mara root. I also noticed that you here use the ability "Steady Aim". I am guessing that you hit the wrong key? Most Shadow Warriors don't put this ability on their bars because it really is too detrimental to use. Steady Aim increases your build times by 1.5 seconds (even on instant casts!). The crit gain from Steady Aim adds 50% of your crit rate, not a flat 50% crit (20% crit has 10% added to it, not 50%). Basically, worthless under all circumstances. I would recommend taking the ability off of your bar so that you don't accidentally hit it again. Unfortunately, if you had saved your self punt until after you used focused mind here, you would have been able to use it to get away from the melee train and survive.
Overall, main pro-tip: don't waste your self punt when it is clear that it won't work. This is core to both Squig herders and SW's and any pro herder/warrior will use this extremely effective tool only when it is appropriate. I recommend buffhead for visuals on the immovable immunity if you are having trouble deciphering when to use your self-punt. This was the chief cause of all four deaths. Generally, the BW should have been the weak link in this group comp but the destro were able to focus you, get you to neuter youself for the rest of the match and rack up kills on you. When playing the SW in 6v6, it is important not to waste your cooldowns, try not to panic and waste the self punt, it is your main survival tool.

Nice recap, never saw the video, but the shadowwarrior whom you are addressing should be able to take home some good advice from your analysis.

Re: 6 man meta
I'm no pro-herder/warrior myself. I linked a few names of people I would talk to. As for the analysis, admittedly it is far easier in hindsight to identify where one could do things better and I do hope that Peter doesn't take my comments as criticisms on his play. It's a real shame the video was taken down because it really provides a great learning tutorial for beginner SW's on how tough melee pressure will come at you and things to try and not do as a result.Whiteork wrote:Nice recap, never saw the video, but the shadowwarrior whom you are addressing should be able to take home some good advice from your analysis.
