Damn Karast, that was very helpful. Thanks man!

From what i have experienced, WOM is a must if playing solo. To me, it didn't feel mandatory if i was in a premade with 1 or 2 tanks keeping my enemies away (and therefore allowing me to stand still next to my 1st turret). Have to say though: WOM makes the class much more enjoyable (to me). That mobility should be core to the class imho.

gun turret got decent armor debuff, only one that engies have. It do wonders for me. Imo WOM should be core, so engies got some of the much needed mobility /and almost insta aoe kd/

It's a change that was going to launch in 1.4.9 before the shutdown, and I hope it is something that the dev's will implement here on RoR.

But I am worried there will be a lot of negative push back from those that don't know and understand the class, and those who are simply opposed to anything they see as a buff to a career they don't play.

That's why I leveled my Engi (and in fact it will probably be my main on Order; i can already picture my guildies lol). To try to understand the class.

Anyone has the link to the 1.4.9 patch notes?

edit: found it. https://returnofreckoning.com/forum/vie ... f=8&t=1352

Which is why we're lucky to have balance mods who are eager to help classes in need (dude above even made an engineer!). Naysayers with no understanding of the class in question will not be listened to; only people with a thorough understanding of the class, and people who offer good suggestions that have been thoroughly thought out.

Been messing around with different specs in the past few days. Having a blast on the engi (well, mostly... since i am pretty much solo all the time, some SC's can be quite frustrating, specially with 5 marauders constantly trying to pull me). Ran the Rifleman/Grenadier spec (with Strafing Run). I don't like SR since the punt doesn't happen instantly and has a short range. I'd rather let a SM try to AoE punt if we need one. But still had fun in Tor Anroc dropping a Land mine on people close to the ledge and then AoE punting them all to the lave  Did this a few times. Fun.

I love Rifleman spec. Specially sniping someone who is running away, almost dead, and thinks he is safe and out of our range. :) However I got tired of constantly kiting (since you can't really do any significant damage while moving) and dying anyway since i was barely receiving any heals (several SC's had no order healer at all). So i decided to run this:

http://waronlinebuilder.org/#career=eng ... 6:;0:0:0:0:

Basically I was just shooting them as usual, but if someone made it to me, i was like "No, YOU move", used M2 and used Focused Fire + Hip Shot. FF was critting around 1k each hit on Tanks. Marauders were melting. It was fun :)

Still, I don't think i will be running that spec in a group since ideally i never want to be close to my enemies. Anyway, here is my question: how do you guys use your M2? For example, SW can shoot Eagle Eye or whatev and activate M2 mid-flight. Engie can't really do that since there is no flight time. As i mentioned, FF + HS seemed like the best options. Thoughts?

Snipe, Gunblast, and crackshot work different in RoR than live. On live there was a .5 second delay from cast to hit.

You could fire snipe and hit M2 before the damage applied to get the uber snipe crits. Right now you have to use it then snipe / gb but you will lose 3 seconds. It's still worth it, especially if you stack a few dots. I tend to go gunblast and then ff+HS.

Strafing run knock back is something that is situation, I personally use it for AoE dps spike in M2, but used in a tight door way it can cause headaches, and right now it seems to move with you. So you can use it to push through a warband if you want.

But you hit the nail on the head when it comes to engi's greatest weakness. If you are fighting a kite team that is moving away from you so you have to chase, kiting away from a melee train yourself, or even taking them head on with heals / guard you can't do any dps aside from weak dots, since everything else outside of tinker is long casts. So you are easily countered in multiple ways. The best way to play rifle is as a suppose dps. Put up SF, and then Snipe + hipshot + FF, while a more bursty dps like WL / WH pops on them, that's how I have found success.

dots dont work as on live so if u preload dots and run m2 preloaded dots wont get the benefit of m2.
So if there are not bazillions doks around you could try to use m2 and load 4 dots, they got full benefit of m2 till they fade away. I tried it 1-2 times, the problem is that donts are just too weak to surpass snipe brust spike but at some situations it may be usefull option.

About flying times, afaik on ror all rifleman spells are instant hit with only exeption Phosphorous Shells. Thats why it is very important Phosphorous Shells to be made potent as should be 13 point skill. That should be the skill that will complete the engi rotation.

Wait, is this true? i could sworn my SH does get double damage on his already up dots but its not like i really want them to so i never actually checked it.

I definetly remember engineer dots that were already ticking benefitting from m2 but hey, i truly think there is no way to tweak engineer/magus mirror till both dont have unshakable focus or at least magus gets something similar.

"that change from live was intentional. at RoR dot dmg checks at initial cast not at each tick. If u get boiling blood on you and afterward detaunt the BW u still got the full dmg of BB, while all dots and hits from BW afterward got detaunted /even if he cast the BB while got 1 sec of detaunt and BB pop when there is no detaunt you get only half of the damage/"

"Morksezstop is correct."
dots works differently on ror which make dok/wp group cleanse even better :/
