Nobody cleanses magus aoe dots as they deal almost no damage. The average group heal is enough to counter them.
At best they cover more important debuffs of other classes.

^...?
The only Magus AOE dot that is remotely 'dangerous' is Infernal Blast with the 50% crit tactic/deep daemonology/15% dmg buff. Glean Magic has to be THE worst DOT in the entire game; Pandemonium is DECENT, but again doesn't deal half of what a group hot does.
ST-wise: Baleful is OKAY, but I would much prefer it to have its duration shortened so it feels more bursty, i.e. on par with DPS AM's DoTs (y'know...the healer archetype); Withered is pretty meh.
Again, just to reiterate in case people missed it - the only 2 viable* ways of playing a Magus are:
* Rift bot spec'd heavily in Daemo/maxed out INT/guarded and assisting with a Sorc for PBAOE burst;
* Havoc - long-range single target nuke with IFOC from Change (which requires a good amount of crit to make sure that the 3 spells you will be using in your rotation - BOC/IFOC/SVF - all crit)
* by viable I refer to the Magus in a group setting - a la justification for a Magus being taken over any other class.
If you're spamming GM/Pandemonium and expecting to be effective, it won't work.
ASIDE: there are a lot of ex-magi posting here with good feedback and suggestions on the class/their thoughts based on live experience. This is what we need to be listening to. I'm all for new people trying out the class, but PLEASE don't think that topping damage in a T1 scenario equates to a class NOT being underpowered - because the Magus really is. I'm all for you sharing your experiences with the class in these early tiers, but do not presuppose anything or conclude from your 3 Nordenwatch scenarios at level 12 where you topped damage that the Magus is 'in a good position', or that we posting here 'need to learn how to play'. Cheers!

Re: Why the magus hate?
Allow me ask then, How many order would be running for cover after being hit by:
Infernal Blast:
A daemonic wave that warps the air in front the magus dealing xxx Elemental damage over 9 seconds to ALL targets 40 feet in front of the magus.
Glean Magic:
you strip away the Spiritual protections of EVERYONE 20 feet from your target, reducing their Spirit Resistance by xxx and dealing xxx Spirit damage over 20 seconds.
Surge of Insanity:
A surge of chaotic bliss overcomes your target, dealing xxx Spirit damage. The victim and any other enemies within 20 feet of them are also interrupted, cancelling any abilities that they are building up.
Pandemonium:
Chaotic swirls of power inflict xxx Spirit damage over 15 seconds to your target and those within 20 feet of them.
The crafted potion:
that works much like sticky feet ability
the crafted potion:
Ground targeted AOE fire
From a magus that has ALL LAIR DROPS from tier 1, and as many armor slots filled with fully offensive armor, with highest INT Talismans that can be slotted, and the 20% damage buff from our turret.
SPIRIT AND ELEMENTAL damage coming in at the same time, your health bar will melt in seconds
As I have done it many times with the magus, it is always funny as hell, to watch the panic ensue after.

Nah most off ppls are convinced magus are crap and to be honest, I like that. Less people will detaunt me and put me in to ignore list while I will be able to melt them down with a surprise.zanthorn wrote:Allow me ask then, How many order would be running for cover after being hit by:

Not once did anyone here say magi were underpowered in t1. Did you have a r100 on live? did you have the class the entire time WAR live was open? Were you playing when changes were taking place? No? Then your t1 experience means nothing. People who base off the potential of a class based on t1 shouldn't even be posting here. You're not giving feedback nor are you providing an opinion, you're simply being mindless trolls.
Re: Why the magus hate?
No one said they were "crap", they have two "viable" options is all. By the way, congrats on killing that wp. We all know that this server is bursting with intelligent healers, and I'm sure he was one of themVdova wrote:Nah most off ppls are convinced magus are crap and to be honest, I like that. Uh...I'm not talking about t1, when healers don't have group heal/group hots/cleanse. Any class can be effective in T1.
I'm talking about the META game - t4. I don't give a rat's ass about T1 - did you not read that in my post? Try to do all of that in T4, and watch healers laugh at you.
PS. you don't even get pandemonium in t1 so wut?
And @ the poster who said they killed a WP in t2: that's just a very bad WP. NO HEALER worth his weight in salt should EVER be threatened by - let alone DIE from - a Magus in t2. That's just it.
I'd be more than happy to log on my Archmage who is level 18 and see you try to kill it, while I detaunt you and just AP drain and /lol spam.
Being able to kill an afk healer/10 year-old player does not = your class being good.
Renork - I like a lot of what you're saying, and agree with you. Seems a lot of people have played a Magus up to level 12 and think that this 6-hour experience equates to knowing how the class functions (or, rather - doesn't function) at endgame. This is precisely what I was talking about in my post above.

Re: Why the magus hate?
@Renork,Peterthepan3,
Where, may I ask are you two getting that I am talking about tier 1?
As I am well aware of Surge of Insanity and Pandemonium not unlocking until levels 14 and 16 respectfully.
Also to add to my post above, forgot to mention going all mastery points into Path of Changing, which means my dots hit harder.
