current rvr meta
Re: current rvr meta
Is the variable RP gain from AAO? Or was that wiped due to the lag issues/DCs?

Re: current rvr meta
a game that has gear progression in pvp will never need skill to be good at it. lets just assume we let 2 people fight each other - same class, same level but with the difference in skill and gear who do you think is going to win?foof wrote: This game doesn't take much mechanical skill, but most PvP games take a significant amount of skill in general to play, and even more to play well. player 1:
hp: 1000
attack damage: 300damage per second
literally the best player in the world, some type of korean mutant who is playing better than anyone ever
player 2:
hp: 10000
attack damage: 600damage per second
has the best gear available but is also a goldfish, somehow hes able to spam his keys
no matter how good player 1 is he wont be able to kill player 2.

How do you think so? We lost no gear as they removed gear we can't use at all with the current ranks.bloodi wrote: Till we convince the developers here to abandon their ridiculous position on rvr gear and tokens, defense will be always be much better.
Dying is no option.

Another example is people who have RR40 right now. On my WH I can't even begin to count how many 1v1's I have won against particularly WE's just because I have van's relic. RR 34 and pots are also a big boost. And good talismans can make about the same difference as maybe 1/2 - 2/3rds of a potion.
It's not that you don't NEED skill, it's just that this game will never have the ceiling of say Quake/CS or even games like DotA. In "competitive" WAR (6v6/SC) the type of skill you need isn't on the individual level but rather on group play and how well you communicate etc... Which is why there is such a huge gap between PUGs and Premades.

Re: current rvr meta
this is just my opinion on the game, im usually in scs since reaching lvl 22 it seems there are alot of 26 lvl people in the sc. Last night it was the same order pp; (lvl26), just rolling us pug groups ok thats how scs go sometimes but it was very meh.
and now for rvr, ive done very little rvr i barely understand how the concept works when you can attack when you cant what you need. I think i havnt bothered with RvR much because whoever has players wins, its just back and forth back and forth till one sides gives up or xrealms.
Im not sure if aao has properly been introduced yet, and i dont have any reccomendations on making the current system better because of my lack of involvement in it. But ive always thought was aao applys giving some kind of HP buff or slight Str,Int,Ws, buff in addition to the increase in gains from xp,renown, inf might help the outnumbered side over come.

I'd be against insta levels, sure, make it somewhat faster (but rats already are tbh) but there's so many people that seemingly do not know the basics of their classes it would make for a gruesome experience. I think we all want to be challenged after all.
As far as oRVR goes, more renown for killing is great atm, I only wish we had two zones open at the same time. Easier to pvp on a smaller scale.

Re: current rvr meta
Terrible argument. Good players grasp the basics of a class incredibly fast, even if they jump on it at cr40 rr100. Bad players will be bad even if they play a class for 5 years.backrow wrote:I'd be against insta levels, sure, make it somewhat faster (but rats already are tbh) but there's so many people that seemingly do not know the basics of their classes it would make for a gruesome experience. Re: current rvr meta
needs to be a huge reward for zone/keep capture to make attacking a keep even remotely profitable because right now its silly how easy it is to defend keeps against more people, defending is alot more fun, you make a LOT more renown and its so easy to switch realms onto the defending side everytime its not even a problem to get to the keep before its attacked.
the risk/reward is way off when it comes to keep attacks hence why we're seeing a deadlock in zones everyday because people just relog (myself included) to the defending realm whenever the snowball reaches a keep.
Could impliment a realm switch timer (if thats possible?) even if just 15minutes, this would immediately stop this from happening or atleast pose the question if its worth the 15min lockout if the relog sucks and would increase the flow and mixup of zones more. Meh...on second thoughts maybe im over this realm timer idea

Re: current rvr meta
The reward, in my opinion, needs to scale with how hard it was to flip the zone. There should not be a "huge reward" for locking an empty zone. However, if a realm manages to lock a zone by taking a moderately to heavily defended keep, the reward needs to scale accordingly.Ravai wrote:needs to be a huge reward for zone/keep capture to make attacking a keep even remotely profitable because right now its silly how easy it is to defend keeps against more people, defending is alot more fun, you make a LOT more renown and its so easy to switch realms onto the defending side everytime its not even a problem to get to the keep before its attacked.

Also, I would support a lock out for crossrealming, but I would prefer something closer to an hour.
Your suggestion of 15mins gives someone enough time to hop on for one keep defence, then when the attackers get upset after wiping and go sit in their keep, your lockout will be up already and you can just swap.
