Joking aside, a lot of times it's a matter of positioning. A lot of the magus abilities are 65 feet.

The shorter range of Magus spells puts them out front and makes them an easier kill target.

True, though it's about 85ft with the tactic. But note that you don't need to stand in 1 place to cast stuff. Move in the range to throw a dot, move out, keep the distance. And if someone tries to close on you just kite them to death. Magus is excellent kiter.

Magus lack a lot of things at 26, 40 is the sweet spot. Plus obviously they need a few rr's under their belt.

People are assuming magi will be this amazing class in t3, but are forgetting we don't have the op gear that came with lotd that made t3 lol worthy. You will be rifting through doors, that's all.


Edit: Before i get blasted by the people who never touched a magus. 31 = no swift flames (3s SVF), no DW (15% damage increase from all sources from WS), etc etc.

Ya, I'm not talking about how strong or weak Magus is.

I'm letting the OP know why they would be targeted first. They are a clothies that has to pull up and get closer than the other clothies. I assumed OP was talking about Magus in SCs.

Obviously the Magus can kite and play well to deal with this. The extra range from the tactic also helps, it will put them behind SH who play run and shoot. Tho, i feel people go after Magus > SH in the same range because SH has better escapes.

Wanna chase magus as melee? Come on, I dare you. With slow, 2 knockbacks, stagger, stun, detaunt, self buff on armor and tons of skills thet require little to no casting time we tend not to f* around. You will just overextend and get out of range of your healers
The only real threats to dot magus are very high rr bw and sw who can pretty much oneshot you from 100500ft unless you're quick enough to throw detaunt.

Which, imo, is why the most feared/hated Magi on live were full demo with bit of mid-range abilities. (As with any career) Magi with a competent healer, in group or pocket, with a Demo build were simply unstoppable, often putting my (apparently OP Mara) to shame quite often in the lakes and SCs. Truly, if magus had even one morph ability rivaling Mara, it would be my Main, instead of my highest alt, just as in live (had both to 40/100 and was hard pressed to decide on which was Main). It's all about the vanity mode.
