For there to be endgame rewards, first there must be an endgame. RoR doesn't have endgame at the moment worth mentioning unfortunately.

The last endgame seen here was the City sieges( not timed, but actually pushing the campaign forward which made sense) that rewarded Royal Crests for the endgame loot(Sov).

I've said it before and i will say it again, one thing holding this server back is the fear of rewarding high lvl players, a MMO game without ''the carrot on the stick'' lost the fundamental principle which makes MMO'S addictive and player retention stick (meaningful Grind for a longer time). When they added the 25 stat talismans i have to be honest here, i first thought it was a joke, but it seems this ''fear'' is really holding everything back, and there are those in here defending it thinking it is for the best unfortunately whilst in reality it stagnates everything and suffocates the exact ambition which makes games thrive and be loved.

There has even been many threads over the years that wanted to expand the ''endgame'' rewards with just cosmetic rewards not even influencing performance, but we haven't seen any of that worth mentioning yet. This is very telling as well.

As it is gearing up in RoR is no challenge, it goes very quickly and the journey is over too soon, then what is left is a campaign with very little incentive to participate in for the campaign itself, many get bored and leave. The scenario team did it well and at this moment, imho it is the main thing worth playing for.

P.S. I did not want to sound too cynical, the intention here is only constructive criticism.

Never—nowhere else, not once in six years of playing—have I experienced that feeling with any other content: not in RvR, Scenarios, or Ranked play, and certainly not in PvE.

And it wasn't just the city itself; it was the whole experience leading up to it.

And yes, the cities suck now—precisely because people have no motivation to do anything other than camp Warcamps.

I respect your opinion, but I ask myself if we played the same game?

You are right, probably everything is better than the current blobb system, but the old RvR system, pre unified currency, was horrible too. I don't see the heroism in throwing forts, dodging premates in city queues and faction stacking. Maybe you played during NA times, but for every European it was even worse. If you didn't wake up at 3 AM to drag yourself to the city, you had no chance for endgame gear. You could play all day long but did get nothing because there were often no cities in EU times.

For me personally, the best time was shortly after the unified currency with the introduction of duo-discordant skirmish. People didn't yet blobbed and played almost every content of the game. Or maybe I wear rose tinted glasses too, and it wasn't actually as nice as I remember.

I agree. Pre currency unification had a lot of issues. Forcing players into city in the middle of the night or getting completely farmed for 90 minutes wasn’t fun.
I had great city’s too, awesome fights but most of the time it was just dreadful content to get BIS.

There is a reason players don’t play city’s today.
The whole concept needs a rework to make it fun. Forcing players with a carrot into same old content won’t work and won’t end well.

There were a lot of good reasons why the dev team changed it. And I am glad they did.

RvR is a huge sandbox. It’s player driven. You can create your own content and endgame. A lot of players seem to forget that.

I understand what you are saying about cities, and as you rightly point out, they had their flaws. But those flaws were infinitely better than the current state of the campaign and of the game.

And there is no doubt that cities were the true endgame content of the game, where you could see guilds organizing themselves and trying to get the very best out of their players. Now, the endgame content is camp WCs.

There was a time when seeing a player in full Sov meant seeing someone who knew how to get the maximum performance out of their character. Someone who actually knew how to play it.

Yes, sometimes you could spend 90 minutes either being farmed or farming the other side. That could have been mitigated by adding a `.surrender` option during the different stages, just to make those situations less painful. But for some unknown reason, the GMs never wanted to implement it, even though I seem to remember it being suggested many times.

The city schedules were not quite as dramatic as people sometimes make them sound either. I was a casual player, playing during late EU hours, and at the time I also had a very strict work schedule. Even so, I managed to get my first full Sov set without excessive problems.

Was it easy? No.
Was it extremely difficult? Not really.
Did you have to organize yourself in order to play? Of course.
Did it feel like I was playing an MMORPG? Yes, absolutely.

Right now, my feeling is that the game has become a mixture of LoL and CS set in the Warhammer universe, rather than a real MMORPG.

If endgame gear would be hiden behind competative " end game content" moste of server would never get there. From verious reasons.
Current rewards /gearing system is realy comfortable for everyone. Pve gear and slow crest grind, now also sc.

People forget there is no city after fort. Assuming future changes with sentiment of the past.
I would be happy if city happens much often. Each 24h depend on time zone not like now each week or something.
Players would be able to participate in different /another content, duno why city pop is so rare.

As DevanShell sayd players define their end game/competative content all around game and its shouldnt be force to hide BiS rewards behind only one. Player play content he like on level of competativnes he like.

So what is the point of capital sieges with no rewards? Even if u lose there will be no changes for capital IC to KEP or Alt to KaK for a week...so nobody bother.

When city bis, premades will farm pugs all time.
City is still stay there as an option to earn crest even faster.
İm also not happy with the current state of city but hardcore premades wont allow to others win.
