I'd love it. I already just started my own version. Salvaged all my gear, converted all my crests to gold, gave it all away, now I'm RR85 running ruin gear and spending just 25 renown points.

It is precisely the challenge of facing highly renowned/geared players that motivates you to push your limits and become just as strong.
Let's not forget that this is a PvP game—adversity is part of it; naturally, you have to face much stronger opponents to become strong yourself and achieve something meaningful.

And honestly, the game is already quite horizontal as it is; I find it boring enough that there are no real advantages beyond Rank 80.

If new players find the game too hard because they have to face powerful veterans, then perhaps this type of game isn't for them.
The server shouldn't have to adapt to the weakness of new players; it is up to the new players to put in the effort and become strong themselves.
That is how a healthy system works.

The weak face the strong to become strong. We lift people up rather than dragging them down.
