Forcing people to grind offsets only through SCs was bad but I will agree removing the Insignias (Conq, Vanq, Invader, Warlord, Royal) negatively impacted the how people play the game.
Remove the exclusive insignias from special RvR content (city, SCs, fortresss) was one of the big mistakes of the devs. This was one of the reasons for the current state of RvR with mega blobs, where you don't need to know how to play to reach BiS, you just have to follow the zerg.

Before, you had to learn to play all kinds of content to be able to gear up. And that's where the great players come from.

If the special currencies will be back, this will be a great improvement for the game

Requiring wins will definitely make gearing better but also more difficult. The problem is the Devs do not wish to add anything above Sov gear but the issue is they have already opened Pandora's Box and a bunch of people who never truly earned Sov are wearing it. They cannot remove Sov from players that have it as that would probably kill the server. I'm hoping the changes to the campaign help with many different issues.

Some folks around here have the memory length of goldfish.

I don't know if the currency will be good or bad but let me recap what happens when you add SC specific (or city specific) currencies:

1) People are forced into SCs to complete the sets
2) Premades start farming pugs
3) People start to AFK
4) Devs start introducing anti-afk measures such as forced ejections, barriers, and a significantly reduced rewards for losing.
5) The pool of people doing SCs shrinks
6) Premades start dodging each other.
7) Folks complain there are no SCs and demand the latest and greatest thing to bring the population back up.

Been there. Done that.

1. Afaik they only talk about weapons so far. Dont even know yet if the new SC weapons would be BiS at his point. But in the past, the best weapons came from SC content, and to bring that back is a good thing, since most of the BiS weapons come from PvE these days. So at least BiS weapons would be back in PvP content.
2. no comment
3. specualtion
4. These things are implemented allready, beside the rewards for loosing wich got even raised not long time ago.
5. How? The queue is on a minimum allready, cant get worse... :D Besides from event SCs, there are not even 5% of the online players who participate at scenarios atm.
6. Atm, the dodging mainly happens when the same premades encounter each other few times in a row, and the result is very onesided everytime. So mostly the loosing team stops queing. Premades dodging each other intentionaly would become less with higher participation numbers. Just because there is an enemy rotation with enough players.
7. Isn't that the current situation? :D Therefore these plans are made

8- 95% People stop playing city sieges
9- A new SC system is introduced to balance groups.
10- Premades disappear from the scenarios, and the scenarios descend into total anarchy with almost not coordinated play. People prefer to be farmed in SCs just to win and get more RR (Reward Ranking).

I remember perfectly how it all happened.

I also remember that the scenarios used to be fun when playing in premade groups (and it was the real way to learn to play on a small scale, even though I've never been a great player), because you'd run into other premade groups to fight. But now, if we form a group of six to enter scenarios , it is very hard get a pop because there aren't any premade groups opposite us to match us with.

Agree. Unified currency was best thing devs did. Any gear should be accessible to anyone with their desired way to play. Also too many PvE exclusive gear were added and not available for war crests, that should be fixed too. Forget about city, make RvR enjoyable first by expanding RvR lakes and adding RvR action to Cinderfall, West praag etc.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Does no one remember why we changed it? 3 AM forts cuz you can't get invader crests. Gear locked into vanquisher cuz of no forts during your play time. no pop scenarios cuz premades farming pugs. Maybe now that PVE can unlock wards some of that goes way not sure.

Only thing this game really needs is redesigned RvR maps / campaign. Scenarios are fine, they are probably the best they have been, PVE is fine, alternate way to gear etc. RvR no changes for 10 years... anyone see the problem?

I agree, absolutely. I've talked about this with my friends several times and we all agree. It was not a good move to unite all currencies.

I can't disagree more.
Forcing people to do content they don't enjoy was horrible mistake.
I've farmed SC weapons back in the day for like 10 characters, fort logged, and then city logged. Then I had to farm ranked with some toons as that was the only way to min-max. After wiping my entire account few years ago I find current progression much more healthy and enjoyable, previous ilteration was real nightmare.

You don't force anyone to do in-game content. You reward those who do. It is different.

Just like each dungeon has its own gear, each type of RvR should have its own gear, rewarding players for playing different in-game content.

It's like if each dungeon gave you coins to exchange for any set you wanted, and you could get the Dark Promise set by only doing Gunbad or Sewers... even if it was less efficient, right?
