Seriously? Spamable aoe abilities w/o cd are instant, even ranged 65 ft abilities are instant and you tell me that is reason to give melee class 2 sec cast ability?

it's undefendable, spirit damage, enhanced range, immune to pushback, extremely high base damage, high scaling and applies a potent debuff.

you're meant to time it with your autoattack swing and a big followup cast like hammer of sigmar for a huge burst of damage. combined with pre-applying your armor debuff, your dot ticks and some crit "luck" simultaneously this combination can easily timestamp someone for 4-5k+ damage in a 1 gcd time frame. it requires a little finesse, attention to swing timer and effort instead of mindless spamming to get the most out of it but makes for great burst.

Interesting - could you explain in detail how this works (which abilities are involved etc.). I'm currently low level and don't know of most of these abilities, or even autoattacks or how swing timers work (should I get a swing timer addon?)

Also, is it a viable option to level as a 2h DPS WP? Will I be able to get dungeon groups as a DPS, or will I be expected to heal instead?

Dps heals usually stat hungry and shine in good gear. Not welcomed in warbands/dungeons either. Till 40 play what u want, after 40s go full heal, when u have acces to warlord gear u can go dps, but in mass rvr they not really effective, spec shines in smallcale skirmishes. For autos - yes u need addon for that. Dps wp kinda specific role, if u wanna be aoe mass murderbot better choose another class.

Thanks. I've been having a super hard time deciding what to play. I kidna wanna do dps, but I like how the WP plays (dps). Also have a WH which is probably a better choice for what I wanna do, but kinda liked the wp playstyle better tbh.

Really fun to play but no gap closer and also awful aoe, great single target dps.

Guilty Soul is broken as hell. Take advantage of it while you got it (which will probably be years). Renown Quick Escape to have a chance to catch kiters.

He is never going to catch a semi competent kiter with a 2H WP. There is only a slight chance with the snare weapon from crypt and some smite/ guilty soul proc vs some Vanq geared ranged squig with 7k wounds. Full Bis RDPS that knows how to kite? Forget about it.

Hence, never play solo with 2H wp, play it minimum duo with an Ironbreaker or Kotbs unless all you plan to do is duel melee characters, you're a sitting duck in the open on the least mobile toon in the entire game with the crapiest class resource system which wont even allow for ''flee'' offensively to charge with.

TL,DR Roll a White Lion for a proper melee class.

In an era where WEs and SMs leap, I hope they give WPs something... and I don't play Order. Just tweak that busted Guilty Soul tactic and make it 'On Critical hit, do X Spirit Damage and increase your movement speed by 20 percent for X seconds"

In hindsight perhaps they gave it too much damage in some regards (dot) but didn't do anything about the fundamental issue of a melee spec without a gap closer or clunky class system, unfortunately there is little hope and the benefit of the doubt is no longer deserved imho after several controversial class changes in recent times.
