Would be interesting to "turn off" all AOE DD abbilities for a week and let these superblob fights dealt by single target skills only 
The whole dynamic and scale would change over night I´m sure. Blobs would crumble in to 6-12 mans. And maybe even solo skirmish scenarios will start to popup again.
