Some really great advice in this thread.
To echo what others have said, SnB BO is a great tank with great defense and utility. Most importantly, it's fun to play, with a range of strong buffs and debuffs useful in both warband and small-scale content.
A little tip for guard swapping. If you're using the enemy addon (which you should be), watch out for your teammates getting heal debuffed on their unit frame, which will show as a small broken heart icon. Most dps will start their burst rotations with a heal debuff, so as soon as you see the icon, quickly swap to that target if the situation allows for it. Do this even if your guard target's health hasn't taken much of a hit yet, as you can blunt the enemy's burst before they can put much pressure on. This takes pressure off your healers and forces the enemy to switch targets to find another unguarded target. If you see that your guard target isn't under much pressure, you can always swap back.
The enemy addon also allows you to set up click-casting. This will allow you to swap guard targets by double-clicking the group icon, which is a good way of doing quick guard swaps.
This is the warband build I would aim for as you make your way to level 40:
RoR.builders - Black Orc
First, make your way up to Rock 'Ard in Da Boss tree, grabbing less stabbin me on the way. Rock 'Ard is vital for RvR as it allows you to move through no plan without a target. Once you have that, move up to We'z Bigger, grabbing the other listed abilities on the way. We'z bigger+lincraka combo is our class-defining combo and is the main reason we are wanted in warbands. Tactics for any SnB build are always going to start with +10% block and morale pump, Lincraka is a must as mentioned, and the 4th tactic slot is free to your preference. I personally like less stabbin me for the extra defense.
Past 40, make your way back up Da Boss tree to Down Ya Go. Knockdowns are a very important ability to have, but you can make do without one in RvR, and the above build gives you more stuff to play with as you level (fun>efficiency while levelling). You'll want to go up to the knockdown first if you're doing small-scale like scenarios though.
