githappens wrote: Sat Sep 02, 2023 9:00 am Problem with such stats is, you will see on top of them whatever players with the best support play.
Why is that a problem? Premade warbands with the best support prefer the best dps classes to get the job done. The result reflects perfectly what they are preferring.

When all dps classes would be equally good and it wouldn't matter which you take into the warband then you wouldn't see the career with the most kills having 3x more kills than the career with the least kills. This reflects perfectly what people are looking for when setting up a warband for orvr.

Now what is the reason for that? Some dps careers must be performing a lot better than others. That can't be argued away and the kill break down shows that.
Killboard gives kills to the ones who do the most damage. In case of Premade vs PUG stomping, it means it goes to classes that make the biggest burst in small time period as PUGs tend to explode. At times when we had competitive CS, where premades often fought other premades, TOP damage dealers were Engineers and Maguses, due to how long those fights would last. In that enviroments, most AoE kills would go to those two...

Thats pretty low. I think Unabomber best score on ST BW in 2-3 hours of roaming was around ~90 DBs.

Raw numbers, taken out of context, are very difficult to interpret.

You don't know if the dps are 80 or 50RR, what gear do they have and more importantly: are they guarded ? are they in 2-2-2 party with healers ? with RP or Zealot healing bonuses ? is there armor debuff or resist debuff ? chop fasta or WW etc etc ... ...

Very hard to draw a conclusion here, for exemple, in you "best player list" there are soloers and ppl who always play in optimized party.

Interesting thing to notice though, is the 376 shamans !

You can't trust the top scores on the KB. They have either WB's supporting them or are SC goblins who have multiple tanks and healers in a pre-made supporting 1 DPS pumping their killboard score.

The whole point of a statistic is by definition "a fact or piece of data obtained from a study of a large quantity of numerical data". It reduces massive amounts of datasets to something that is easier to understand and compare.

It doesn't matter what exactly happened, which rr, which setup, grouped or solo. Even if I could describe every single kill and what happened then you would have a document with like 10.000 pages and after reading that you would still not know at the end how the overall performance of each career was. Therefore you create sums, averages, etc. to break it down. That's what I did.

It's not raw numbers, it's not taken out of context, it is not that difficult to interpret.

choppa lawnmowers unorganized wbs and wl kills unguarded targets before they can blink - these numbers are interesting to see as always but mean relatively little

This is not about CS or SCs. This is about ORVR.

Hover over your damage and look at "Damage contributed to kills" - the only damage stat that actually matters, and I guarantee your engis kill contrib damage was significantly lower

Can we get some similar stats for just solo kills deaths? would be interesting to see.
