Can confirm, getting kills in scens is how you level your Renown Rank in this game. You should be able to hit level 40 at RR 50 if you have the patience.

Scen wins help as well, especially since repeatable quest allows exp bonus as well if you are looking for exp. You want long kill-heavy wins.

Despite how common they are, 500-0 stomps are near worthless if you get 12 kills and everyone gives up.

There were some comments in a recent thread that said the RvR renown need did not work as intended and that it was reversed.
