I'd say thats true in some cases and not in others. No one brings a DPS Sham/AM for their burst (though AM can time stamp alright) but most are trying to do solo roam shenanigans so you will end up getting more consistent kills with more magic power over time (esp with dot's and such) but we both know you have a million times more experience than me on dps am/sham so i will take your word for it.
What you said was true
, shaman/am solo roaming in the lakes most likely pick on victims without backup heal, those 1vs1 or 1vsX encounters, where those fools chase them and die to dots. Those fights are no matter of seconds, especially with shaman specced for sustain and less dps. Having higher sustained dmg by increasing mp is totally valid.
Dying is no option.
