How were BG's played in t4?
Re: How were BG's played in t4?
From what I've read on the forums it's the Chosen, BG is more of a support tank and-not-so-good with polearm but "okay/decent" with sword and shield.

Re: How were BG's played in t4?
Hello, and sorry for the late answer. Here's a rr98 BG, from a .ru WHO, Ranald server. Foremost, forgive me for my grammar, though i'm trying to do my best.
Unfortunately, there is only few ss left from the last few month of the our server's life, so i can't show you the last stats i had. But here's an example of what stats/skills were in my use.
I can't show my build, though, 'cause wardb is not working
As for the playstyle - BG is a perfect second tank/supporter in the melee party. We had 1 Chosen, 1 BG (both tanks in atack build), 2 healers (usually DoK + Shaman), and 2 DD (sometimes it was Marauder + Choppa, sometimes 2 Choppas, sometimes Marauder/Choppa + Sorceress). With a high RR stats/builds/items/sets - we had trouble only with parties with a 2 slayers, 2 WP's, 2 tanks, and only so high rr, as we were.
Chosen can do much better tanking, IB can do much better 2-hand damage, but BG is a flexible, anti-magic tank-supporter, which is very fun to play.
Now i'm feeling sad, goodnight my sweet princess female BG - Yani

You can always do ultimate defence build, and use HP regen oil, and just outlive anyone.TenTonHammer wrote:thanks of the responses, now just one last question out of the 2; chosen or bg, which was better at 1v1/dueling?
Re: How were BG's played in t4?
From my perspective put 2 chosen in party is a waste of spot, dark protect is a great buff for your dok behind, also the best bg i see played around at rr 100 was 2h spec, that dosen't make him squigshy, if ppl tell that a 1600 tough tank is squigshy they have some problem. It's not a easy class to master and it require a lot of gear to shine, also need the right set up, i know ppl that didn't use tough buff tactic....
That said bg work around a base rotation of 3 skill for defense: block increase- crit reduction/armor buff- absorb. This is his def pattern, if you go 2h block increase will be removed, but as a rr100 that wasn't a problem (there is even a 2-4 hit auto parry but i never dig well in that classes i just set up something for a friend so im not an expert). BG on sov were good tank i remember, you fill a debuff role but it depend on your playstile. I saw bad BG and very good BG that make me wonder if i should try it once in a while.
About duelling BG do better than Chosen cos it can clease slayer rampage and so you are just unkiallable 1vs1 even bw that ingore your block/disrupt cannot do nothing if you have fullcapped and over capped resistence(over capped is needed to get head of bw+AM resistence debuff so you need each capped +400 in each resistence at rr 100) because that + tactic ( only tke 75% from magic damage) it's a 65% magic damage reduction while all other tanks in games have max 40%.
About chosen, it was the best destru tank but bg and Bo are atm not so behind. Alot of his Opness(9sec stag, m4 of mid path stack with dok one etc) was nerfed and with lotd weapon and tri-spec gone (it was a build that use all 3 three) the only op thing it's his moral charge tactic(+200 moral point every block).

The shield BG had the impressive 5 second knockdown (all full hate) but required a block. Good teams would avoid attacking a Bg, much like an ironbreaker. It only hurts you to attack them and build up their hate/grudge. However the Bg could easily follow a melee train and build up hate from aoe, and wait to score a block on incoming guard damage to make the stun available. The only problem is you can't run off and be a debuffer.
Block/parry requirements on tank abilities are almost nullified, when the tank is guarding someone.

BGs? I have one thing to say ...
Anomander!!!!!!!!!! SnB or 2H, did not matter, he just kicked ass left and right and if you were lucky he felt like playing football with you and kept punting you....till he got tired of the game and killed you!
And this was pre 100 patch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: How were BG's played in t4?
I played live pre RR100 patch. Lets keep my experience, in t4, in the mirror classes during live server simple:
BG---->2H weapon (Glaive)---->Spec AutoHeals----->Go full DPS (Streght)---->Pick Willpower as secondary stat (Protection from spells and increase autoheals)---->Take out the action bar all def abilities except Taunt and Guard, but use them carefully----->Chasse down anything able to use spells.
*Reached RR 65+, funny to play, but not a good solo class at all. You allways needed support, but when u got it, it was an impresive display of what we all thought would be the SM.
SM---->2H (GreatSword, but still some specs blade+shield were viable)---->Spec Out-Tank----->Go mixed Streght+Init----->Take Tough as secondary stat, or wounds, oponions and my own tests varied a lot in this one----->Blade Dance and Retaliation Dance as often as possible----->Chasse down DoKs, squigs, WHs and in general anything that use DoTs to kill, but ignore anything able to use spells.
*Reached RR 80 and was my most played character. Best DPS tank to go solo around when properly used, but required a LOT of practice in the correct blade dance choose. By contrast the BG was way easier to use, and was able to accept way more mistakes than the SM dances.

Well good thing then that the devs balanced the class by making gear for BG so unbelievably difficult to obtainnoisestorm wrote:BG = op. nuff said
