I don't really like the Cold Ones and use the tier 1 mount at the moment (even if it is a tad slower).

if they are permanent and will be on free sale, over time they will simply depreciate. speed mounts give a huge gaming advantage. the player will be able to escape though on an ordinary mount he would be caught up and killed, or, on the contrary, someone could easily catch up. Good thing for solo ganker or for gank groups. so I still think that this gaming advantage should not be permanent, but should be temporary.

I just worry how it would not work again as with forts.

Oh, sorry: I was assuming custom mounts would be cosmetic only, i.e. offering no speed bonuses, etc (don't think we need that sorta stuff).

Some cool mount skin should be aquireble via PvE, for example killing a certain number of mob.
Suppose that exist a spider skin for goblin; it's natural to think that after killing 10.000 spiders, one became your mount and so you aquire it. It work for Trophy so why shouldn't wotk for mount appearence?

I don't think there's a worst way to acquire something than having to kill 10k mobs. Grinding the same mobs mindlessly 6hrs a day for an entire month to get a mount, where's the fun in that? There's no prestige in the mount or the incentive to even get it.

These mounts should come from the key activities of the game. RvR (Including Forts and, in the future, city sieges) Scenarios and dungeons/PQs. Things like winning X amounts of forts/RvR zones/scenarios and dungeon influence.
They done stole my character's names. Can't have **** in RoR.

The question is why making mandatory stuff ingame that players dont like via new unique loot instead to make these encounters more fun so ppl do play them without the cheap tactic of adding exclusive loot. That somehow is not so ok for revived, long time ago dead game.

Some mounts should be added for rr+80 chars seems appropriate since there is no cosmetic stuff yet. No idea why all new loot should be connected to some unwanted ingame time sinks, esp.cosmetic gear..
