WP with shield is currently unplayable. Thats All.
It is entirely playable within the environment which it was designed for, so please don't spread misinformation. Is it as good as a backline WP? Probably not, but the disparity is nowhere near as huge as you make out to be the case, and while the shield wp exposes himself a lot more, this can serve to help alleviate pressure on your DPS.
If you are trying to play shield wp in zerg, then you're gonna have a bad time; shield wp is designed for smaller battles (in which it works very nicely).
