Once 16+ and in T2+ oRvR focus on the third aoe Mastery Tree for warband play for the time being. Destruction warbands want your bolstered aoe damage to counter order gameplay.
You stay at proper distance and 1 Black Horror (Ini debuff) and spam Shattered Shadows, and you Dhar Wind after 2-3 Shattered Shadows Spam at 100% Dark Magic max.

You need to get comfortable with the Sorc mechanics first and the aoe in oRvR does actually helps a lot, not the single JoeSixPack target way of playing. Take everything one at a time and add things to your rotations. Do it step by step and experiment to see what you're comfortable with and what annoys you.

One last thing. You're not a BW but a Sorc and it's going to take time, a lot of time and tears, before you'll slot Close Quarters and do what BW's are doing at the moment in the lakes.

Good luck and enjoy the ride.
Assuming you have a guard.

It's obvious that if a Sorc has Close Quarters slotted that it would be wise to have a tank put a guard on the Sorc if aoe bombing is going to happen.

Yet you still see most players, including you, going CQ without guard

Including me?

1. I haven't played my Sorc in ages.
2. I've no reason to slot CQ on any of my Magus. CQ is just useless on any of my Magus.
3. When I want a guard, I get a guard. And I don't always have to ask for it.

Of course,
When I desire a guard
1. I ask for a guard.
2. I can explain why I ask for a guard.

No matter has you guard or not...wise sorc always put this tactic CQ slotted, bc its useful for burst nearest target and can save you from nasty melees.
