Rubberbanding can be solved by standing still and fighting. It's a bit hard for us Slayers to use AoE, since mobs usually split up after rubberbanding.

Where is the server located?

Azarael wrote:The actual range itself is correct. The reason the auto attack works is that the server checks whether it can be applied at intervals and uses it when it believes you're in range. However, abilities are invoked when you yourself send a command, and the client automatically assumes the ability will execute and hit if it thinks you're in range. There's no compensation for the fact that the server and all clients have a different idea of where each player is, and so one client's judgment of whether an ability is in range may not match the server's.

I'm presently doing some reworking of the ability system and implementing some kind of solution to this problem beyond "more range when moving" is on my agenda.
oh so the problem is this? why not apply what client tell to server so? it was i think that way on official.
Dont know if that sounds strange but, it think this way because if you hade some internet lag you where able to hit target that maybe n real time were more head than you, so it's possible that on official this was handle by client, i look into this for auto-facing too, i think at this point it was handle by client and not server side.

Because if the client DOES in fact send anything about the range to the server, I don't know where it is in the packet (which has mostly been worked out.) The packet tells us whether the client has line of sight to the target(s), but not whether they're in range.

The only thing that's unaccounted for is that the client sends an X, Y and Z position in the ability packet, but unless there is some client side prediction going on in there it's not going to be of much use.

Everyone does. the fact that this issue still exists is simply because the guys here did not put effort to solve it. I do not know a lot about the client-server opperation but since the server can check the intervals of the auto attack could also handle the GCD and then check if the target is in range and an ability was activated. Dunno if I am right at all...

Hi Luth and everyone else,

Quick question Luth could you pm me the server IP so I can do some ping tests to, I live in UK and i feel like I have horrible lag with rubber banding and melee just generally not working at all and my health bar from full to 0 in what feels like a second.

First time posting, I have been playing for a while now and remembering why I loved this game when it launched.

The Devs are doing a brilliant job and the game is going from strength to strenght.

Thanks all

Maybe the IP-adress of the server changes in the future, so it's better to find it out by yourself: install Prio
It extends your task manager with several options, e.g. the TCP/IP tab:

Then just start RoR and you can see in the TCP/IP tab the IP-Adress/ports the WAR.exe process communicates over.
