I will never by any of their products - only pirate downloading for free/
I was a big fan of Bullfrog/Damn EA for killing this awesome game designers team.

This is pure rumor from people I know that worked at these game studios. A lot of these studios are standing up to EA saying we wont release CRAP and promise to patch it later or we won't include your DRM Virus bullshit in our game or release beta level product with the promise to patck later or f* you EA, we will not screw our fans by making this level/gametype/option DLC. Do not freat, the good ones will reform under new independent studio names and start creating games we all love again. I just hope one day the new studios after releasing a game that makes them billions buys EA and shuts them down, Releases the source for the warhammer online server and we can all enjoy/learn from the source. Again, so says a little birdy.
I also wanted to comment about pirating, It's been around for 500 years. It's not going away. I don't care what type of protection you sink your money into and put on a game. You are only hurting the legit people that buy it. Release groups remove all the DRM so the people that use it never run into a problem with servers being offline or settings on the computer cuasing the DRM to go crazy and keep me from playing a game I paid for.
One time I paid for a game and downloaded the warez version becuase it was easier to install and play. No DRM, didn't have to worry about servers being down. My experence was infintly better with the warez version then the crap I paid money for. So my point is if someone wants to play your game for free, they will figure out away to do that. The best thing you can do is make the game SO great that the other people they play with tunt them for warezing it and not having a legit copy. Peer pressure sucks.

I think preorders and no proper demos has lead to much higher amount of pirating than I remember when I was a kid. All the games I used to buy I'd already played a couple of levels of from discs of magazines. So when it launched I knew exactly what games I wanted. With all these preorder bonuses and cash sunk into building hype for game that end up terrible of course people are going to pirate them.

I remember when the "Deus Ex" demo was available (the first part, from the year 2000). I played the demo over 10 times until i could run to the store on the release day to buy the game.
But today the customer is in the best case a beta tester and the companies can openly lie in his face about features and remain unpunished. The biggest companies manage to sell a pile of warm shít while the customer thinks it's pure gold.
And because it's such a good feeling, the masses of fools just preorder "Pile of Gold II", right after they have been
This happens when only materialists/capitalists create the "major games" and idealists/visionaries barely get the money to develop some indie stuff...
