Sadly. But if they'd set up non-mandatory donations for server upkeep only (ie non-profit, no charges to play) it's no less as if we'd privately transfer somebody some money on his bank account, from which then he'd just pay server costs by himself. I'm sure there's a way around this legally, because not only technically is nobody gaining any money, it all goes to waste for server upkeep?

Private servers run similar things - even the main SWGemu server, Basilisk has donations along with other private servers, and that game bases on a Star Wars license. Though the SWGemu team did supposedly mail out somebody about it.

Is there no legal framework for donations? We personally give one of you money and what they choose to spend that on is there own PRIVATE matter (wink, wink, nudge nudge). maybe im just being naive

The answer will always be no to donations, no matter what mechanism is suggested.

I understand from a fan project, and you can not take the grant but without a decent server so it will always be doing and the problems already at 180 pll what will be next? So although it may be on the server and its maintenance grants under cover lest somehow a problem

ok now i understand the problem with refusing to take money.
