I hope later will be better like others say. What i`m trying to say - pick class that suits your playstyle. SW is very mobile, Magus is root to one place.
Chaotic Attunement helps a lot and is pretty mandatory in most specs. You still get gimped by having to move, but it's completely playable. Magus requires pretty good gear and doesn't really shine until you get ALL the goodies, but you will get there if you keep at it.
Unless you're running Daemonology or are soloing, I can't see why you would want to slot chaotic attunement. daemonic withering, chaos unleashed or wild changing (or both if you don't need endless knowledge), Daemonic reach (if you're change or change/havoc rr70), Surging power > chaotic attunement.

What peter said is true, the class is a late..LATE bloomer.

Daemonic withering really isn't better imo.

Edit: Of course just one of many builds, but I would think a ST build is what people mostly judge the class by. And for this I would definetly take Chaotic Attunement.

Subjective I suppose. If you're havoc and are having problems with constant movement, I don't see how CU will help you. Sure, you can now "instantly" summon your pet, but you have to stand still to cast your rotations and if you're bad at positioning it's not going to fix anything. I can see how a change or daemon magus would benefit from this though (in place of dw)

SW is fun but not good for big warbands where AOE is king. SW has basically no appreciable AOE. Skirmish is mostly 'plink away at a single target while making sure the healing debuff is up 100% of the time'; assault is mostly 'load up your debuffs on the enemy then rush in and spam grim assault with Vengeance going'.

Assault is more fun, but you can't do it until RR50+. Don't even try, you NEED RR50 to get the healing debuff along with all the core assault skills (unless something has changed recently). Do skirmish until then.

Magus and Engineer are both turret classes that sit in one spot. Other than that, I don't play them so I can't comment other than to note that Magus burst is insanely OP on anyone who doesn't have high disrupt. Which is basically everyone but some healers and s&b tanks.
