Easiest options for OBS are :

1 - Set resolution and fps to whatever you desire.

2 - My preferred Output settings for good quality and performance :

Encoder : Nvenc ( if you have nvidia card this will make your GPU do most of the recording work, so less strain for CPU ) - Generally less lag for me.

Rate : CBR

Bitrate : 6000 ( I use this for stream and I find it good for recording also )

Keyframe interval : 2 ( I don't know why but this is what's recommended )

Use Game capture for best performance.

Leave the rest on default and you are set to go.

I was lazy with proper explanation, I hope i didn't miss anything but you should be fine with this. Tweak it to your pc

There are some decent guides on Youtube, yeah. Easiest way I suppose.

I'd rather look up OBS forums for proper information as youtube is usually a hit or miss thing. So many missinformation there.

I still use fraps atm, but there is a bit of a lag issue with it.

I'm checking out one called Bandicam which has very good reviews though.

I recorded all my vids on shadowplay medium quality settings. Works allright. 5 min postplay capture.

In the past I used Shadowplay to do all my recordings as I could set it up to do last 5 min of gameplay with a keybind instead of recording nonstop. However now that I have basically stopped making individual YT videos and do more Live Streaming, I prefer OBS ( Stream Labs version ) for the overlays. I also use NVENC encoder as it uses my GPU instead of CPU, however I encode CBR 8500 bit rate.

OBS for streaming along with voicemeter and virtual audio cable to keep comms muted on stream, and Nvidia geforce experience aka shadowplay for highlights and videos.

I just looked on youtube for "OBS settings for WoW" and that worked fine for me.
