What you assumed to be approval of sorts might have just been the GMs not taking notice to begin with, as they are busy playing or trying to make sense of other things at the time. If the GMs did take notice of your character's name and did not immediately react to it... well, they likely were busy playing or trying to make sense of other things at the time.
