Yeah screw your realm and any kind of realm progression. It's all about me, me, me! (sarcasm)
By playing a support class, you are already playing a selfless class. Telling a healer it is about 'me me me' when the current implementation of the game forces them to be like that to progress their character isn't very fair.
Eh, look at the original comment.
He's inciting that you should just let other players die coz they wont help your personal progressionson anyway.

When a game thats all about RVR and its better to not aid your realm coz they "steal your renown" you know there are some real problems with the reward system.

There are only one good way to ballance this tbh. Less renown for kills and more for completing/holding objectives.

how far can you go for your own gain?

not sharing info of enemy movements.
using others as bait.
and letting competitors get killed by not healing.
spread misinform to reduce competition.
all same - selfish.
ugly playstyle of mmo.

healers are most selfless supporters.
playing it selfish way seems wrong.

you have priority, quick rp farm, i get that, though noble actions reward u much bigger later.
zone locks, allies getting stronger etc.

and you get static 20 rp for global healing. not sure about tick timer.
I was top heal/rp gainer many times in double event SC as healer.

My old main back on live was a DoK, maybe 110 days played. 2nd char, shaman, maybe 40-50 days played. Back then I enjoyed healing because it was an easy way to be useful to your party/warband/realm, whilst also getting proper renown rewards for doing out of party healing; back on live it was.
Returning here, it didn't take long to notice that staying alive on healers was somewhat harder compared to live, and the renown gain was very much weaker.
So I rolled a dps, and was happy with that choice. Sure, I may explode a lot when I play alone, but even with minor support I can still get bunch of kills and lot of renown.
Now when I try my healer alts, it just feels weird to have to wait for someone else to do the killing stuff, then hope you get some renown in the end with some party healing or minor out of party healing.
Those 20 rp ticks just don't motivate me enough.

Only reason to heal oog today is to keep them as meatshield between your own grp and enemies. Kinda sad

If you keep ignoring out of party healing you will reach a point where everybody else is dead and you are surrounded by enemies, alone with your party. You may be able to strike a couple of kills, but only doom is what you are going to finally achieve.

Utmost respect for healers in and out groups. The RR gain is far slower and requires a lot more effort. Imho the RR gain could do with some tweaking?

Sure. However, as a healer the only way you progress your character is by being in the group doing the most damage or going DPS yourself. I think most healers understand that you have to do a certain amount of keeping other people alive to maximize this. Speed bumps are important.

The real issue is that we even have to engage in a conversation like this.

Cool, I get top heal/rp gainer in scenarios all the time too. You get the same amount as everyone else contributing towards the same number of kills providing you are on the same side of the RR40 threshold. The issue isn't scenarios and they work perfectly fine as is.

It doesn't really matter if you think it is an ugly play style or not. Instead of getting upset at healers for doing this, perhaps you should be directing your disdain towards what is making healers feel like they HAVE to play that way to progress their characters at a reasonable rate.

Perhaps it is ugly, but very rarely will our healers make a conscious effort to heal out of party unless we know the players to be good/productive, or that healing them will help us survive, too.

The argument revolving around 'helping your realm' doesn't really hold much weight with us, I'm afraid, especially when one considers how lazy and solocentric the majority of players are. How about you guys help the realm out first by getting yourselves organised, seeing as - if this thread is anything to go by - helping the realm out is such a priority as of late?
