Leveling through pvp will have its ups and downs (depending on gear+bolster). Just make sure you have solid gear and there will be more ups. Pvp gear to 40 is good enough and easy to get if you prefer pvp to pve as one option. War quarter South West in Altdorf (i think i got that right) has the traders for pvp gear for when you leave T1.

Leveling through PvP is not something i would recommend. From an XP per time it is not very efficient and also risky because when you loose you might get out with very little. I would mix grinding mobs (you can for example also level butchering or other gathering skills by that), pq´s (for gear), RvR for medaillons and RR and SC´s for emblems. That way you will advance on a steady pace and get Rank and RR in an even way plus you collect the tokens needed for gear.

I've found a rough balance, hitting the SCs and rvr untill I have the currency required for the gear at my tier then hitting the PQs and mobs.

Currently got my slayer to level15 RR21

I did the same in T1, starting with T2 things will change because you will have players on the battlefield with much higher R and in spite of debolstering / bolstering they are still much more powerful. So i found it more difficult there then in T1 at a lower level (22) but as always it depends on the luck you have with your group and class compositions.
