If you didn't notice this over the past two weeks of it working correctly, it's probably not noticeable. But yes, this is a change from live.

Would it make more sense if the tumbling animation from holding a banner were used? You get knocked away flying through the air, your concentration is on landing without breaking your legs, which characters seem to do quite well.
