This ^^ ;)

I've been recently getting in touch with my "Dwarf" side

Been playing an engineer, and it was enjoyable. On the official server I stopped playing mine once he hit rank 40, as mentioned already, they more a less became useless  .

I just tell people to try all the characters, and see which you enjoy and which you don't. It's the perfect time to learn the classes, before the zerg arrive.

i like engis a lot more since they removed the vfx for acid bomb

in all seriousness they're actually a player in t1. toughest order ranged by miles, can burn down SWs and BWs like nothing, but engis are really tanky in t1 for ranged at least. harder to kill than some mdps in cases, and gun blast can crit for like 400+ on twink engis

in higher tiers they suffered the same problems as magus ie. does absolutely nothing and then dies

their whole class gimmick is the turret, which is just... nuffin. only as a sorc did i ever worry about turrets in the slightest

No just having too little. The engineer had no way to bypass armor decently. Could have done with a tactic in t3 to bypass x% armor on rifleman abilities.

THey still had their magic attacks but they were long dots that were easily cleansed by dok gcleanse spam. Either change their debuff type as I said many times or make some of the games dots uncleansable as swtor did when their dot classes were terrible and getting gutted by cleanse.

Customization is what makes the meta. More customization means a more fluid meta as specs change to counter the current fotm others emerge to counter them.

Problem where war went wrong is they did zero balance changes for about 3 years and the meta got stuck.

If, when RoR gains talismans and potions, entire classes or trees of classes are shut out as a result of that, that's a problem with the minmaxing afforded by talismans and potions and not with the underlying design. You can't mess with the fundamentals to such a great extent and expect everything to still be balanced.

Operating on the assumption that we can't change the client, debuff types are fixed. It's therefore easier to address the root problem (group cleanse bullcrap).

I agree gcleanse is the elephant in the room. Who knows what changing that would do though. You might end up with aoe bw dots going back to the bombing days. War has 5 years of unfixed balance issue that mythic never bothered with. Cant even imagine where youd start. Probably the bw/sorc mechanic.

Add to that balance shifts all through the tiers. Changes that fix one tier might totally mess up another. Whoever was in charge of combat and careers really did a super job. I still dont get the point of non mirror classes. Thats twice as many classes to balance and you can never get these pseudo mirrors to be balanced.

A certain idiom about omelettes comes to mind. Changing group cleanse would almost certainly cause new issues to arise, and no doubt some WPs and DoKs would point to them immediately if it happens, claiming that the change broke the game and we must immediately revert to lolcleanse. But that's just balancing - you address the new issues and move on.

If it were me attempting to balance the game, I would start with gcleanse, then look at the mechanics, especially in relation to the übermechanic of Combustion. I think a lot of people who peddle the argument that "bw/sorc are supposed to be so deadly and do so much dmg!!!" forget that the classes are meant to be BALANCED - and that means a Magus has to have the same worth and potential as a BW. That's clearly not happening.
