both sides never have enough tanks and healers, daily proof is the horrible amount of deaths suffered by both factions in the field of battle

Basically you'll have the best time/ be most useful to your realm/have the most influence on the outcome of encounters if you follow these simple rules:
For a mainly PuG/solo/open warband player.
1. If you are bad at pvp mmorpg's, relatively new to RoR, a very basic understanding of the game, and casual solo queue SC's a lot - Full defensive Tank
2. You have experience of pvp mmorpgs, you understand the basics of positioning, you understand the basics of how damage can be applied - Healer
3. You have good positioning, good understanding of how damage is applied, knowledge of how guard works, good target selection, are able to kite, understand RDPS damage rotations - RDPS
4. You have exceptional positioning, exceptional understanding of how damage is applied, knowledge of how guard works, exceptional target selection, exceptional battlefield and personal situational awareness - MDPS
Don't be that slayer or WE that instantly dies 10 times every 5mins to the same sorc/bright wizard rotation. Only a real masochist gets enjoyment out of it, you'll burn out very quickly and leave the game if you become that guy.

If it would have been the fanboy only then: yes.
But somehow he had a single target Destro melee group with him.

What Order needs:
* More tanks that know how to utilise guard/challenge/CC. It is absolutely atonishing how few tanks use their guard in scenarios, amazing.
* Less people of any class wasting CC immunities. The amount of engineers that blow rift/kd/stagger immunities for no reason is also astonishing. Learn to use your CC properly, or if you are playing with a group wait for the lead to give CC directions/allow the tanks to take precedence.
* Less idiots dying 1000times every scenario by blindly charging into the enemy, as per what Alth said. Stop running into 2 groups of destro as a slayer with no support expecting everything to be okay.
* We need good healers that can position well.
If you are new to the game/inexperienced, roll a RDPS and learn situational awareness before trying another class.

Alternatively you spam /sc, /a, /ad, /g, /p, /s, /3, /6 and /t - at best all at once - blaming everyone and everything; your team, the enemy team, your class and all other classes - at best all at once -, while you completly and utterly fail to even unterstand the basic objectives of a scenario, let alone stats and the most basic of mechanics, yada yada.

Engis are fun and viable. Compared to live.
That is the truth I like to spread.
Overall to your question.
Yes healers and tanks needed. Fancy rdps are there enough.
Although playing a fancy rdps is also fun.

Make sure you have enough arguments though
