I think what would help is to apply the xp boost to rvr only, at least in t2/3. I'm not sure how easy that would be for devs to implement, but that would encourage people to just level through rvr, and you would see more people making alts and joining the t2/3 rvr fights. Currently I dread making alts because of the long boring slog through the mid tiers. Even when there is rvr action its demoralizing how slow you level doing it.
If the 3x or more xp boost was applied to rvr and sc's (or just rvr even) I strongly believe that would help populate those tiers.
In the current situation new players are likely not to stay when they see just how long leveling takes, especially in the aforementioned tiers.
I understand the intent with removing the xp boost was to keep players in t2/3 longer and thus populate those tiers more, but it seems to have had the opposite effect. Like I said, the xp boost encouraged people to make alts, and play them more because they felt like they were actually making xp progress while on their alts. Now, it feels like trudging through sludge.
Should the experience boost be returned to the game?

This is a well thought out post.Jaycub wrote:Based on the last thread I think most of how I feel will get covered by others here eventually. But I can say for 100% certain that this is be a gigantic boon to the population in NA were t2-3 frequently fall below like 30 players total after ~9/10pm central?
While it won't really make those tiers any more alive PvP wise, it will fast track players to T4 to help bolster NA's relatively low numbers compared to EU.
Edit: As far as this being viewed as "abandoning T2-3" after a lot of work by the DB team went into it... I assuming this is only a temporary solution to low population. There is also ways to get r40 characters out and about in the lower tiers via events, quests, instances and whatnot.
I really don't think anything they do will do much to boost T2/T3. Everyone has their scopes aimed to T4 and ruin farming/RVR to be bothered with T2/T3. It is unfortunate the work done on T2/T3 wouldn't be utilized but eventually down the road perhaps it would. I got a SC pop today in T3 after 2 hours and 10 minutes. Do you really expect folks to hang around in T2/T3 given those circumstances? I think for the benefit of everyone, and rolling alts, and keeping T4 plentiful 3x would be a great thing.
They did something like this in Neocron 2. When Neocron generally got dead and had a huge grind they popped the grind out for Neocron 2 and made it about the end game. A whole lot of people came back to experience the end game without having to grind in boring, empty low/mid levels.
It's a solid idea.

I think exp x3 should come back. Give ppl full set of outlaw Green ítems when reach lvl 31 and they can start enjoying the Game. T3 was only nice when It was the highest tier.
Re: Should the experience boost be returned to the game?
yes! t2/3 is ok-ish except maybe 2-3 hours a day if u cant play during that peak time nothing to do besides grind mobs t2/3 is dying slowly which will end up t4 being dead too.....
Re: Should the experience boost be returned to the game?
Learning the class was a smaller point I was making but yes you are correct, time is the important factor in learning your class.TenTonHammer wrote:Natherul wrote:Also going to note down here something that I posted in

If the bonus xp is added back for t2 and t3 then those zones will become deserted with no SCs popping and no ORvR going on as well as less and less players actually enjoying the content thats there (as well as learning their career ofc).
While I agree that the game really starts at T4 I strongly believe that there should be no XP gain increase as it lessens the experience in the T2 and T3 zones.
EDIT: not to mention lessen the value of the time spent slaving (DB team) making those tiers actually what they are.
I'm sorry but I disagree with this " learn your class" arguments
First off leading a class is about investing TIME in a class not what ever tier your in additionally you can fast around, slog or run though t2-3 but none of those affect how good of a tank or healer you are it's about the time you spend playing a class, he'll I know people who have been here since the beginning and now in t4 who still can't play their class or archtype well
The like you yourself said; the Agame completely changes once you change t4 and lastly you can't completely learn your class till you have enough master and renown pts to spec and skill certain things
For example their is no real reason for maras to really learn and master stance dancing till they spec giouttine before that they can basically run in sav mode the whole time
This learn the class, tier are gunsmiths are in reality, hog wash
T3 and 3 are dead zones this game is pop heaven in t1 and t4 and the dead zones just discourage and drive new players off
If T3 was active then T2 was active as well as they are now merged.analoghermit wrote:T3 was pretty alive the last few days (late EU times usually) and I managed to keep my RR about on par with my char's level (compared to 3x exp times). Zone locks are also incredibly rewarding and the VP system allows for more skirmishes than PvDoor.
The slogs are currently lvl 16 if you want to oRvR because it's Nordland till you die inside and people skipping T2, so it's Talabec and Avelorn all the time.
I think we should focus more on how to make t2/t3 more active instead of just re implementing the sidestep that is bonus xp. (like the idea of scaling rewards, weekly medallion chest and so on)

Make t2/t3 more rewarding and players will fight.
Ik this might be the exact opposite of what devs want, but bring back PvDoor. Players at this level want xp/renown, and will happily knock down doors to do so. If someones attacking, then someone will want to defend too. Not to sound bitter but things were a lot more enjoyable in t2/t3 when keep takes were dumbed down, and didn't have systems in place to reduce rewards and involve resources.

Re: Should the experience boost be returned to the game?
Yup. Swtor used to do this.. Give you a 'starter' set of gear at T4(31), just a loot bag with the starter set and you are good to go.jorgemarco wrote:I think exp x3 should come back. Seems about 60% of the population would like 3x exp back, vs less than 35% (as of right now) that disagree...

Re: Should the experience boost be returned to the game?
Even though I voted yes, I think it should be optional. With this I mean, give players willing to do so the chance in a single Zone/lake/pve. Low tiers can be fun and some are needed to max the gear of actual t4 templates. Players like me who have less time and a t4 active guild may want to hasten the process to enjoy the game with guildmates and have a toon rooster capable of satisfying the team needs. On the other hand, I also liked the idea of locking xp to stay in lower tiers experienced in other games (age of Conan for example).

T2T3 has been alive lately because people actually focus on doing pvp; before it was quite dead thanks to people skipping and, grinding exp only to arrive as fresh cannonfodder meat into t4 severely undergeared.

You need at least ruin anyway. In a lake, with T3 max gear you are wearing a tanktop. A pink one.Aurandilaz wrote:T2T3 has been alive lately because people actually focus on doing pvp; before it was quite dead thanks to people skipping and, grinding exp only to arrive as fresh cannonfodder meat into t4 severely undergeared.
