Take all the classes that dont have abilities to become CC imune -> those shouldnt have it.
Now take all the classes that have abilities to become CC imune -> they shouldnt have it either because they already have it.
If -after you've done step one and two- still feel like a class does definately need some similar ability to RD, there can still be discussions about it. (I would agree that most tanks could need it)
It's most effective on melee DDs. But I guess this isn't what OP was asking.

i disagree. It gives melee dps an INVALUABLE ability to get to RDPS. For instance, if out in the open a RDPS and MDPS encounter eachother the RDPS will win 100% of the time. Unless of course the melee has specced into Resolute Defense. That might give them a chance. Currently as it stands RDPS have every advantage over MDPS. They have range snares/knock downs, ridiculous damage/dots and basically can kite indefinitely. Only way melee has a chance is to LOS them and force them to come closer. Let's not pretend that it's not the case.

Yes thats exactly the problem. The renown abilities were added due to 1v1 whine. Its no surprise that melee trains dominated live from that point onwards. Burst classes became even more dominant when everyone had access to cleansing off some classes entire rotation due to whine about dot classes in 1v1.

Lol, So, you're perfectly okay with how unbalanced it is for a ranged dps to just **** on a melee if encountered in the open? If you take 2 equally skilled players, one on range and one on melee,and the range gets the drop OR encounters in a wide open area; The Range WINS EVERY TIME. It's fact, range has ALWAYS had it easier in mmos. It's not "Whine", it's fact. Also, having to invest 10 renown points in an ability that MIGHT make it possible to kill a RDPS that also has a massive cooldown isn't exactly ideal. Range is ez mode in this game. Just sit back and let the melee fodder go in. I'm almost always top melee damage but range can beat me out by just facerolling the keyboard. It's not "Whine", Mythic realized that they needed to give melee some ability to not get blown the fk up every time.

Thats because the game was meant to requires teamwork. Ive seen you on your WP you never have guard and go charging in first just make a beeline straight for the kite group. Youre meant to hang back for the right moment. Wait for mdps to go after them or wait for immunities. Even better wait for a snb tank or wl to go fetch them for you. What good did these changes do anyway. rdps will still win 1v1s 9 times out of 10 and it just made melee trains dominant.

Yah, you've probably only seen me when I'm in pugs. I do run premades with guard and heals as well. The scenario you're referring to we had NO tanks and pretty much no melee dps either. You're a skilled player for sure, but as a Melee WP sitting in the back isn't an option. I just get dotted up by sorcs/magus and heal debuffed by squigs, and in pugs often I get no outside heals. It's fine, I'm used to it. And yah, sometimes I go ham. But Order has not balls alot of times and I do what I can. I give destro credit, their melee units often aren't as afraid as Order. But then again they usually have more too.

Let me make this clear too, it sounds like I'm really bitching about ranged but I'm not actually. They have a role and it's fine. If I ever GET to a range and get my 2 hit snare off it's usually death for them. It's give and take. Also, I plan on playing a range character soon. That's what makes WAR great. But I don't think anyone should be mad about RD as it provided an option to those willing to invest a LOT o points into a huge CD.
