It really is only grindy if you don't enjoy the actual gameplay - PvP. If you roll with people whose company you enjoy or do enjoyable things solo while actually playing the game in T4 you'll get plenty of renown as a byproduct. Any game will feel grindy unless you enjoy it (Pokemon and World of Tanks felt grindy to me).

I guess you'll have to wait a bit till T2/T3 get their rework since T4 has priorty as that's the tier most people enjoy the most.

So yeah T4 is mostly boring grind to be able to wear nice things because they won't fit on you because of the magical ribbon that will vanish as soon as you get that X renown rank.

I think you look at it from the wrong direction.... look at it from the reality angle. Would you give your best armors and weapons to any new soldiers or only to your best.... given that they are rare and not easily crafted?

So you first have to prove yourself in a long and cruel war to get them.
