What are "loser rewards" I don't understand....

If a zone locks after 5 hours of fighting the losing team gets something decent as well?

Pretty much.
Since your contribution will matter, if you xrealm you hardly will get any reward, since you didn't do much.
As well, the losing faction won't get double-punished for staying to def.

Didn't test so far, maybe someone will confirm that.
From the Dev-Diary:
All this work will concern in a first time the T4 area. T2 and T3 won't be impacted for this long period of tests. Obviously they can't be used for testing due to lack of population and faction total unbalance. So we will focus on T1-T3 later.

Due to the way the campaign status is currently sent, the reward pools will spent most of their time displaying "empty". This bug will be fixed.
