I'm not entirely sure of the legalities and won't pretend to be, but SWGEMU collects $1000's every month (including my own personal donations) toward the project. This is/was Lucasarts/SOE we're talking about. Perhaps it would be worth contacting them regarding the donations.Azarael wrote:That isn't going to fly either. In fact, merely suggesting such a thing drops an air of suspicion.

None are more passionate in the defense of their IP than GW. Their entire business model depends on total control of that IP.
Re: Project Status and Focused Testing?
WAR and the IP are two separate things. No-one is attempting to monetize the IP, or the game. If SWGEMU can accept thousands in donations monthly in the face of LucasArts and SOE (even while SWG was still live) i don't see ROR having any issues. At the end of the day, when ROR is complete, how do they expect to run a dedicated server powerful enough to hold a few thousand players without donations?Azarael wrote:None are more passionate in the defense of their IP than GW. Re: Project Status and Focused Testing?
There was a discussion about that topic some time ago: Why not just ask Games Workshop to give you the source code?

Re: Project Status and Focused Testing?
Hello,
i try to answer some question. I hope you understand all my english is not very good and that is a bad requirement.
fokus testing
When a new patch goes live it is important to test all things that we tryed to fix. Of course we test it before it goes live but the "real" test is when it goes live.
If you found bugs. Try to figure out under what conditions this bug appears and write it down. More information help us to reproduce the bug. That is the first step we need before we can start to fix it.
So it is not easy to say what we do next.
but that is not what you mean. At least even if you write this roadmap the devs need to collect and then submit the Information. This cost time time that we can use for fixing. Sure that brings a bit lack of communication with community but i hope that the players understand that we try to use all freetime for fixing stuff.
I hope I could help you a bit and big sorry for my english

We fixed a lot of bugs the last month and make mechanics working but there is still a big mountain of not working things alone in t1. At the moment we try to focus on special game content / mechanics we don`t go trough the bug tracker and fix one bug after the other. But submitting bugs in our bug tracker is not waste of time it is a big to do list for us and the day will come when we are that far that we can go through this list and fix all things that are left.Barbadian wrote: There is a bugtracker, and known bugs, but there doesn't appear to be a focus point or focused testing.
Yes I like the idea to communicate what we will do next. But there are some Problems. First we don`t want to raise expectations. Because it can happen that we change our opinion. As i already wrote there is a lot a lot a lot do to. And we are only a few People and not everyone from our Team can do "real dev" work with the code. At the Moment there are only 2 who can do that. So we look what is easy and fast to fix and has a big Impact at the game experience. We can not work three weeks to fix one bug when we can fix six others at the same time.Barbadian wrote: They also post 'Weekly Updates' which show us what certain developers have been working on and their progress, whether positive, negative or neutral, and their commits to the server. I notice you are very good with changelogs any way.
So it is not easy to say what we do next.
I think with the other answers I answered this one too.Barbadian wrote: I notice on the bugtracker there are a lot of bugs that have already been submitted, some multiple times. Most of these i have encountered myself, yet they remain 'unassigned' to any developers. Should we assume no-one has had time, or are these specific bugs already being worked on or simply insignificant/low priority for now?
I like Roadmaps but I think the project is not far enough to have a clear Roadmap. Sure there is one first t1 then t2 and so onBarbadian wrote:If you are interested in creating these sort of write ups for the community, my general literacy is pretty good when I want it to be. I'm sure I can spare a few hours a week. And I'm sure if you have any questions regarding emulator projects, the people at SWGEMU would be happy to lend a hand too.

I hope I could help you a bit and big sorry for my english

Many thanks for taking the time to reply to this thread. I totally understand and i am very grateful for you and your teams hard work FIXING stuff, which is of course much more important at this stage and time for bringing back the brilliant MMO that was WAR. Your English seems fine to me, so no worries there. Here's to more fixes, and stuff, in the future!
